20 August 2004

  • Removed the Lineage, Surname Data Base and Forum sections of the site.  These sections were difficult to maintain and seldom used.  There removal will speed up operation of the rest of the site.

25 May 2001

  • Added a photograph of Isaac N Crossland and Family of Greenville, Pennsylvania, circa 1895, thanks to Janet Dilts.

15 May 2001

  • Began a Chronologies project in the Virginia Records Section several months back.  The purpose of the project is to make it easier to find, correlate and review complementary record data.

  • Due to family medical concerns, I am unable to complete the project at this time.  ...but the project is far enough along to make public as a "work under construction".  So here it is: Virginia Chronologies.

  • The project consists of an index of thirty-plus Crosslands who variously lived in Virginia at some time between 1638 and 1823.  Each person is hyperlinked to his/her set of source records via chronologically-ordered commentary.

  • The only commentaries completed thus far are those for Edward Crosslin and John Crosslin Sr, brothers, of Surry, Sussex, Nansemond and Southampton Counties.  Additional commentaries will be posted when available.  Commentary for other states and areas will follow as time permits.

  • If you would like to assist in this project, please contact me, [email protected].  Could you, for example, provide commentaries for linking other Crosslands on this site to corresponding sets of source records?  Your assistance would be appreciated.

15 October 2000

  • Added a photograph of the Enos Crosland family of Philadelphia, circa 1890, thanks to Jane Hamilton..

28 August 2000

  • Updated the Arkansas Marriage page with licenses recorded for Emma Crosslin, thanks to Debbie Whitfield.

17 August 2000

  • PHOTO GALLERY:  Check out the new Crossland Photo Gallery.  If you have photographs you would like to put in the gallery, please contact me at [email protected].

  • Updated the Tennessee Court page with information about Joshua, Sally, Lucinda & Joshua D Crossland, thanks to contributions by Janet Arnold.

  • Added a Missouri Death page, thanks to Janet Seamon.

  • Added Smith County marriages to the Tennessee Marriage page.

22 July 2000

  • Here are ideas for a couple of new pages I'm considering for the site:

    • Photo Gallery:  Pictures of our ancestors (all locations and nationalities of course).  This was a great suggestion from Harold Watson.

    • Crossland Memorial:  Recognition of ancestors with distinguished service (all locations and nationalities...)  Example: members of parliament, judges, members of congress, governors, members of the ancient era such as Roger de Crosland, earliest specifically recorded Crossland, Sir John Crosland, Sir Jordan Crosland, etc.  This idea was prompted by Doris Buhr.  I like it.

  • Do you have photos for the gallery?

  • Who would you propose for the memorial page?

  • Please e-mail me with your comments, [email protected]

17 July 2000

  • Updated the Tennessee Marriage page, thanks to contributions by Janet Arnold.

  • Updated the SurnameDB with a large set of data about the John Jefferson Crossland line of Tennessee and Missouri and elsewhere, also thanks to Janet Arnold.

  • Updated the Tennessee Census page and SurnameDB with details about Wright William Crosslin and some of his descendants, thanks to contributions from Lois Stephenson.

3 May 2000

  • Added a Guestbook

  • It's for your comments about the site.  ...and a place for you to "highlight" your ancestors and research interest.

  • Please use it.  Your critique and feedback will help me improve the site. Information about your ancestors and research interest may help a cousin find you.

23 Apr 2000

12 Apr 2000

  • Overhauled Site Interface:

    • Created a New Interface for easier access to information.

    • Added a Search Engine for "picking" through the data.

    • Added an Interactive Forum for Queries and two-way Discussions.

This feature replaced the old Queries Page.

Past submissions posted to the old Queries Page have been transferred to the new Forum for continuation.

  • Updated Site Content:

7 Jan 2000

  • Added a Petition for Religious Freedom signed by John Crosland, his son, Nathaniel Crosland, and brother, Edward Crosland, and others in Nansemond County, Virginia October 1785.  It's located in the Court & Vestry Records & Legal Petitions section of the Virginia Page.

  • The petition is an unusual document!  Look it over, even if not descended from the signers (one of which is my 4ggrandfather.)
