He was ordained an elder between the installation of Reverend John Mitchell as pastor in January 1880 and when Reverend William F. Millikan was installed on March 20, 1883.
The 1894 Mount Morris Centennial reads "Its present board of elders consists of, William Hall, Garret C. Conklin, E. Marsh Petrie, and Andrew Sedam."
The December 1907 Vol. XIII No. 4 "Rochester Presbytery News" page ?? reads "The present elders are: Garret C. Conklin, E. Marsh Petrie, Charles Whitenack, Nicholas L. Hall, Roscoe Conklin."
Residences: He is listed with three hundred ten acres on the 1891 Tuscarora P.O. for the Town of Mount Morris. He was listed as owning property on the northeast corner of Scipio Road and Wild Cat Gulley Road about a quarter mile south of Tuscarora and on the west side of Dutch Street just a little south of the Dutch Street Cemetery and again about a quarter of a mile north on Dutch Street on both the east and west sides of the road. He was listed with three hundred sixty-four acres on the Tuscarora P.O. and a resident of the Town of Mount Morris in 1891.
Burial: He was buried in the Mount Morris Cemetery in the Village of Mount Morris, Town of Mount Morris, Livingston County, New York. His gravestone reads "G. C. Conklin 1830-1913". He was the son of James C. Conklin and Anna Auten Cownover "Conover".
