This work includes some of the descendants of Edward Doty who was one of the Mayflower passengers arriving at Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1620. He survived the first winter when hardships and disease decimated the Mayflower group. He later married and had nine known children. He remained in Plymouth for the remainder of his life.
Some descendants that remained in Massachusetts or migrated to areas other than New Jersey are included. However, the majority of original research and documentation is focused upon individuals descended from his son, Samuel Doty (1643-1715), who removed to Piscataway, New Jersey where he was the progenitor of the New Jersey line.
