William A. Hover, senior member
of the firm of W.A. Hover & Co., wholesale druggists, was
born at Mazomanie, Wis., March 9, 1856, and there led the quiet
and uneventful life of a village lad. Having been graduated
in the local High School when he was about seventeen, he entered
the University of Wisconsin as a freshman in 1873, and was there
graduated with honors, taking the degree of Bachelor of Mining
Engineering. The succeeding year was spent in the Columbia
College School of Mines, whence he came directly to Colorado,
locating at Lake City where he engaged in assaying. Removing
to Denver in 1878, he here became associated with J.O. Bosworth,
a retail druggist, under the firm name of Bosworth & Hover.
A year later he purchased Bosworths interest and established
the firm of W.A. Hover & Co., which later discontinued retailing
and entered upon its present business of exclusive wholesaling.
