ADAMS
COUNTY, COLORADO
The area that was to become Adams County was part of Arapahoe County from 1858 to 1902 when it was partitioned off and chartered as a separate county. Named for former governor, Alva Adams, the county celebrated its 100th birthday on November 15, 2002. The first meeting of the Adams County Commissioners met in Brighton on December 4, 1902. The county measures 18 miles north-south and 72 miles east-west (see map) --Source: Albin Wagner, Adams County-Crossroads of the West
I would like to thank Leona L. Gustafson for her years of dedicated work to the Adams County COGenWeb site and for her help getting started as the new County Coordinator for Adams County. Good Luck, Leona, with your future endeavors. Adams County is in your debt.
