I went to Guadalajara, for 11 days, for some golf with the boys again on Wednesday, 26 Jan. I was not able to find a Sons of Norway meeting there, but the golf was great. I forgot to look for a Bobby Burns dinner.
I made a Family History research trip to Scotland for four weeks in July 1998 and then I went to Norway and Scotland, starting 28 July 99, for almost seven weeks treading and breathing my ancesral grounds and air. I was by myself but had no difficulty making new friends. I met new found cousins in both Norway and Scotland. You can read about these trips by clicking below.

As shown in the above featured photograph "It is never too late to have a happy childhood." My german sailing friend, Werner Liebing, who lives in Wiesbaden, and I, Sheik William, are sharing a bottle of vintage olive oil. One of Webster definitions of Sheik is "a man held to be irresistibly attractive to romantic young women." So, as you can see, you can't believe everything you read. Periodically throughout my life my father suggested that I had some arab blood in me. I always thought he was kidding me.
On 3 Nov 99 we took a cruise on the Norwegian Majesty. Flew from Tampa to San Juan where we boarded the ship. We made stops at Aruba, San Blas Islands (Panama) through the Panama Canal, visited San Jose, Costa Rica, and Guatamala and spent two days in Acapulco before flying back to Tampa. It was a two week trip. A distant (shirttail) relative was the Captain on the Norwegian Lines. Found out a little more about him.
I once again went to Guadalajara for golfing with my Elkhart friends, at the end of Jan 2000. This is an annual affair which I started in 1978. I was not able to find a Sons of Norway lodge in Guadalajara
