CHOOT, Francis. Married BETSY LYON on 29 JUL 1781 in Leicester, Massachusetts. (Source: Vital Records of Leicester, Massachusetts to the end of the year 1849). This is FRANCIS CHOATE, born 13 July 1756 in Ipswich, Massachusetts and may be related to our UFO Francis Chute mentioned in The Hammatt Papers: Early Inhabitants of Ipswich, Massachusetts, 1633-1700. He was the son of Isaac CHOATE and Elizabeth LOW. Daughter SUSAN.
There are several references to a William Chute, son of Richard and Anna, born 2 AUG 1799, marrying a Harriet Philo on 14 JUL 1824. Harriet was born 30 OCT 1891 in Halfmoon, New York and died on 31 MAR 1865. William lived in Crescent, Saratoga County, New York as a farmer. According to The Fillow, Philo and Philleo Genealogy: A Record of the Desendants of John Fillow, she married William CLUTE, not Chute. (Author: David Hermon Van Hoosear, Joel Munsell's Sons, Albany, publisher. Page 92.)
An Ancestry.com record of a HENDRICK (Henry) CHUTE, his wife MARGARET TELLER of Schnectady, New York and their five children: Petrus, Annatje Heemstraadt, Peter, Helen and William Henry, are in other records identified as CLUTES, not CHUTES.
An Ancestry.com record of a JACOB CHUTE and his wife Mary Boyden of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is the son of William SHUTE and his wife ELIZABETH STEELE.
Suspected Records of Chutes Who Probably Aren't Chutes (But we're not prepared to back that up with any proof just yet)Mary SHUTE OR CHUTE (AFN: 23Z6-B0S). Birth: Abt 1771, Devon, England. Death: 14 Aug 1839, Romsey, Hampshire, England. Spouse: Job FIFIELD (AFN: 23Z6-795). Marriage: 30 Oct 1802, Barnstaple, Devon, England. Mary is suspected of probably being a Shute and not a Chute, but this isn't a certainty, based on this record alone. Source: IGI Ancestral File
