Discussion

There is uncertainty as to whether there are two George Thompsons combined here and to whom they were married. Obviously, some of the dates do not make sense. The marriage dates are contradictory. A pension application indicates George Thompson married Mary Susan Knott in 1817 and died in 1824, which means he would not be the father of the above. However, marriage records show his marriage to Susan Knott as occurring in 1828. Also, Mary Susan Knott is noted in the pension application as 65 in 1855; hence born in 1790. The Susan who was his much younger wife per the 1850 Census would have been born in 1815, seemingly too young for either Knott marriage date. There's an 1811 marriage of Henry Thompson to Susan Tippett. Susan Tippett seems likely as a family member since Suttle's Range, noted below, belonged to the Tippett Family starting in the early 1700s. However, George Henry Thompson received Suttle's Range from the Cusics not the Tippetts.

The 1810 Montgomery Co. MD census shows a Philip Knott immediately followed by a Wm. Thompson and then John Thompson. The Wm. Thompson entries (02101/20101/0/0//8) could be consistent with Wm. being the father of George Henry. Also, two pages earlier there is Edwd Tippet and Benja Thompson, while two pages later is Igns Higdon.
