[9877] He was a linen weaver by trade but farmed and also had a distillery. The Schleiffer farm, of 104 acres in 1745, was about 1/2 mile south of Zionsville along King's Road and adjoined the farm of Christian Metzger.
[9873] Mennonite Family History Magazine, Vol. II, No. 3, July 1983, has an article entitled "Rifferswil Census List for 1637" by Jane Best and Hermann & Gertrud Guth, in which families of Hauser and Schleiffer appear...with many alternate spellings. Hauser was Husser or Huser originally, while Schleiffer was Schluypffer, Schluyffer and Schleipfer.....early records should be researched using those spellings. Schluyffer and Husser intermarried. This article is continued through July 1985 and shows the presence of Schluyffer.
