Document of Jean de Trevaux, notary at Payerne, dated 15 may 1474, notes "Prouz" was bourgeois of Vevey. The name is most usually spelled Preux, and also in a latinized form, "Probi". He was at Vevey, acting as a clerk or notary, during the period 1455-1473. His testament was dated 07 aug 1476, requesting burial in the chapel of Ste. Marguerite in the church of St. Martin at Vevey. He left daughters Jeanne and Marguerite but no sons, and so substituted his nephews Jean and Fran�ois as his heirs.

Her death was recorded in unusual detail by the pastor Abraham de Champrenaud, from Cully in the Pays de Vaud, who served at Bischwiller 1713-1715:
"Esther Prev�t fille de feu le Sieur Jean Pr�v�t Ancien du Consistoire de c�te Eglise fran�oise et d'Anne Housselle, v�ve d'Isaac Maison-chaude, et femme de Conrad Gsell Mar�chal ferrant de l'Eglise reform�e allemande, mourut le 13 May et f�t ensevelie le 13 � quatre du soir 1714, ag�e de 36 ans et 9 mois, moins 6 jours, aiant �t� batis�e le 18 Aoust 1677; Sa maladie a �t� deux ouvertures form�es d'elle-m�mes, l'une � la jambe, l'autre au bas ventre, d'ou d�stilloient sans cesse des eaux puantes, qui l'aiant �puis�e de toute force, elle en expira apr�s s�ze semaines de souffrance, elle n'avoit point e� d'enfant du premier lit qui a dur� 9 ans, et quatre du second, dont 3 sont en vie; Elle a montr� une grande patience, resignation et une singuli�re repantance pendant toute sa maladie."

Surname varies in this family, all various forms of modern Preud'homme: Probi, Prodon, Prodhon, Preux, Proux, etc. It is not clear where Nicod fits in this family. It seems unlikely that he was the son of Rodolphe, who died in 1476 leaving no sons.
A document recorded by Pierre Ruerat, notary at Payerne (ACV Dp 92/1), involves a sale by Nicod Probi son of the late Nicod, to his "maternal brother" Claude son of the late Jean de Rive, and Isabelle, Claude's wife, daughter of Michael Glaser (?) of Bern. There are other, similar references in the records of other notaries, notably a transaction recorded by Petrus Gachet 24 oct 1511 (ACV Dp 43, fol. 132v), in which it is mentioned that Nicod the son had the same mother as Jacob and Claude de Rive, and that Nicolleta, sister of Nicod, was the wife of Johannes Chevrod, mentioning also that Meller was the family of their mother.
After the change from Latin to French in the records of Payerne, this family was known as Prodon.
The present Nicod was a notary, and prior to the Reformation, "commissaire" or administrator for the Abbey of Payerne. A document inserted in a register of Pierre Chuard, notary of Payerne, shows that Nicod had died between 02 sep 1540 and 14 jan 1542, as a result of which his son Jeanamey Prodon was obliged to pay a debt owed by his father (ACV Dp 16/3, attached at fol. 231).

It is not yet known whether Nicolleta was the mother of any or all of the children of Jean Chevrod. Their marriage contract has not been found, and the first mention of Nicolleta as the wife of Jean Chevrod that has come to light so far is 1511 (Petrus Gachet, notary at Payerne, ACV Dp 43, fol. 132v).
