He contracted marriage with Magdelaine Fauson 10 jul 1597, recorded by Eg. George Dantan, and cited in a discussion of the citizenship of his descendant Jean Michel Ramel in 1672 (AVL D 441/1 fol. 52v)
He contracted marriage with Marie Romay 27 feb 1630, recorded by Eg. Pierre Fortunat, cited in a discussion of the citizenship of his son Jean Michel Ramel in 1672 (AVL D 441/1 fol. 52v).
Notable for his frequent recourse to litigation, he is the subject of a lengthy discussion of his citizenship in a register of "lettres de bourgeoisie" of Lausanne (AVL D 441/1 fol. 52v). The entry in AVL D 441/1, dated 05 dec 1672, tells us that Jean Michel Ramel, citoyen, was considered for a vacancy for a seat in the council of 200 of Lausanne, from the bannière de Pont, confirmed in 1669, 1670, and 1671, "et comme en l'année Mille six cents septante deux il escheoit selon l'ordre de reconfirmer et pourvoir lesdictes Charges, seroyent survenus des Obstacles et empeschements à l'esgard dudict Sieur Ramel, par le rapport qui nous auroit esté fait par quelques personnes, les uns qui (=qu'il) n'estoit veritablement Bourgeois, disants iceluy estre venu de dehors, les autres qu'il estoit Issu d'un pere Illegitime..." After examining the documentation presented by Ramel, his citizenship is confirmed. The record includes the following genealogy:

Jean Michel Ramel a encore contracté mariage en secondes nopces avec Anthoinaz Courvoisier tousjours avec la qualité de Citoyen comme les predecesseurs signé par Mr. Vullyamoz Sieur Secretaire du Conseil, datté du 24e de May Mille six cents soixante huict.
That this record is so elaborate is not surprising. Jean Michel Ramel seems to have been one of those stubbornly ligitious people who had constant recourse to legal action, to the point that he became a target of all sorts of accusations, which he answered by heaping writ upon writ.
A copy of his testament is in ACV Bg 13bis/3, fol. 14v, dated 11 jun 1705, codicil 13 jul 1705, another 10 jan 1708, Jean Michel Ramel, citoyen de Lausanne et lieutenant de Chesaulx, wife Magdeleine Mestral, son Sbastian Salomon Ramel (dead at the time of the second codicil), grandson (son of Sbastian Salomon) Daniel Benedict Ramel, other grandsons Jean Samuel and Abraham Samuel Ramel, daughter Susanne Elizabeth Ramel wife of Françoys Loys Boizot, maistre graveur. Signed David Mestrezat, bourgeois d'Orbe, secrétaire ballifval and curial of Echallens. Homologué le 6e Xbre 1712.
With approval of his father Pierre Ramel, citizen of Lausanne, he contracted marriage with Anne, widow of Guillaume Villard 09 dec 1549, recorded by Eg. Michel Panit. This contract was cited in a discussion of the citizenship of Jean Michel Ramel, his descendant, in 1672 (ACV D 441/1 fol. 52v).
