Upon the death of his step-mother M�lanie Ad�le Peyron-Gatschet, he inherited her family portraits and manuscripts of the Gatschet family. By the 1930's, he had died, and the papers were apparently in the hands of his widow, living in Grenoble. From there, the trail grows cold.
However, at least one gamily tree found on the Geneanet.org web site has a large number of descendants of this couple, evidently still living. There is still hope of locating the papers of the Gatschet family!

"Industrialist from Vizille", and apparently the owner of the paper mill there, is the only certain information about him that we have been able to discover.
He is likely the subject of a "notice sur Alfred Peyron" which appeared in the review L'Actualit� dauphinoise on 12 may 1889, cited in the catalogue of the Biblioth�que Municipale de Grenoble.
In the 1880's, the papermill was operated by "Peyron fr�res", so we may suppose that the other Peyron mentioned at that era in Vizille, F�lix, was Alfred's brother, although we did not find his birth at Vizille. It is possible the family divided their time between Vizille and Grenoble. The appearance of yet another papermaker in our story — in addition to our Johannot and Marcel ancestors — will remind our readers how subtle are the workings of history.
The �tat civil for Vizille does not seem to contain the marriage of Alfred Peyron and Ad�le Gatschet — presumably, it occurred somewhere else — but there is a series of birth records: 16 apr 1863, Marie-Anne-Philom�ne, daughter of Jullien-Claude-Alfred Peyron, fabricant de papier, age 33, and Marie-Victorine-Elisabeth Chartron, age 22; 29 sep 1864, Marie-Philom�ne-Eug�nie-Charlotte, daughter of Julien-Claude-Alfred Peyron, fabricant de papier, age 34, and Marie-Victorine-Elisabeth Chartron, age 23; 02 nov 1867, Marie-Marguerite-Philom�ne-Antoinette, daughter of Julien-Claude-Alfred Peyron, age 38, and Marie-Victorine-Elisabeth Chartron, age 25 (marginal notation: "d�c�d�e � Lyon (5e<.SUP>) le 5-1-1953"); 07 dec 1868, Marie-Constance-Philom�ne-Henriette, daughter of Julien-Claude-Alfred Peyron, fabricant de papier, age 39 (he signs "Alf Peyron"), and Marie-Victorine-Elisabeth Chartron, age 26. This is likely our Alfred Peyron, thus born about 1829, with his first wife. T'he next birth in this family is 17 nov 1873, F�lix-Joseph-Marie-Fran�ois, son of Julien-Claude-Alfred Peyron, fabricant de papier, age 44 (he signs "Alfred Peyron"), and Marie-Philom�ne-Elizabeth Chartron, age 34. From this, we would have to conclude that the reported marriage date for Alfred and Ad�le is suspect. A marginal notation says that F�lix-Joseph-Marie-Fran�ois Peyron married at Grenoble, 26 oct 1909, to Marie-Rose-Henriette-Isabelle Sentis. (The �tat civil for Grenoble was also checked for the marriage, 1863-1892, without success. It is certainly possible that they were married in Switzerland, or in Paris, etc.) Alfred was born 15 nov 1829 (Julien-Claude-Alphr�e) son of Pierre Honor� Peyron, notaire royale of Vizille, age 42, and his wife Eug�nie Th�cle Villars, age 23.

According to the contract of his father's second marriage, Pierre was intended to be married to Catherine Riou, daughter of Jeanne Roux (Peyrot's second wife) and Jean Riou. However, Catherine evidently married Jean Mazeirac, so it appears Pierre must have died young.
