After the death of her second humband Daniel de Mont, there was a dispute with his daughters Jannaz and Claudine over her rights of usufruct. The matter was settled by the Council of Payerne on 18 feb 1568 (Benoit Nible, notary, ACV Dp 73/2, fol. 302 , so it appears that Daniel must have died either at the end of 1567 or the beginning of 1568.
The parish register notes that Anne was baptised in Avenches rather than in Payerne because her father "Elia Michel" had taken refuge in Coppet to escape the plague. We had suspected the plague in Payerne in 1578-79, because the the number of baptisms decreased from the prior years, and because at least 10% of the births involved a widowed mother.
At least once in the Michiez family, we found a case where there were three sons of the same name in the same family, identified as "l'ain�", "le moyen", and "le jeune". In view of this history, we cannot be certain whether this Claude Michiez "le jeune" had an elder brother Claude, or whether the elder Claude was from a different family or even a different generation.
Son of the late Jean Michiez, according to marriage contract, Benoit Nible, notary, Registre 1, p. 361. Another document of Benoit Nible dates 18 mar 1573 indicates son Elye is marrying his second wife, suggesting that the date of the marriage settlement between Jacob and Anne does not reflect their actual marriage date. It may be the date when the parties acknowledged that the terms of the contract had been fulfilled.
