In the Name of the most holy Trinity the Father Son and Holy Ghost Amen, nobody can be assured of the hour of death, that certainty being a thing belonging to the most high Sole Creator of the universe, finding myself overtaken by sickness and not knowing when I shall quit this Body and that God will take me to him, finding myself tho weak of body yet of Sound Mind having called upon the Holy Name of God my Saviour, I have thought fit of my free Will to dispose of the Goods which God has trusted me with, being according to all laws in full liberty and power to do it, I Remit then First and before all things my Soul to God, desiring him to grant me pardon of all my Sins for the love of Jesus Christ my Redeemer in whose Meritts I only confide and leave my Body to the Earth in hopes of a happy Resurrection. I give First to the poor of the French Church of Emmerick three hundred Livers Money of Cleve. Item, to David Bernard Carle my Godson living at Wesel three hundre Livers Money of Cleve.
