Although he is called Daniel, cannon maker (cannonier) in several references, probably based on notes of Henri Vuilleumier for his Histoire de l'Eglise R�form�e du Pays de Vaud, there are frequent mentions in the records of the notaries of a David Frossard following the same trade (armurier), and seemingly no mention of a Daniel in those same records. It may be that Vuilleumier's hand-written notes led to confusion over the names Daniel and David. The baptisms of his children, easily identifiable by the name of his wife, are all consistent with the reading David. He is listed most often as "de Moudon", apparently to distinguish him from another David Frossard from Brenles whose wife Louise Bize seems to have been the sister of the first David's wife Jeanne Marie Bize. A third David, younger than these two, married Susanne Dutoit in 1698.
The marriage record, though indexed as Daniel (!), is also clear: David son of Humbert Frossard bourgeois de Moudon and minister at Thierrens, to Marie daughter of Abraham Bize, councillor of Moudon.
The church records at Moudon identify David as "petit gouverneur" in 1686. Apart from that , there is no certain information. He might be the David Frossard of Moudon who appears for the baptism of his nephew David son of Pierre Frossard of Brenles and his wife Anne Marie Frossard, 16 may 1687, but since all the Frossard seem to have had citizenship at Moudon at that time, regardless of where they lived, this is far from certain.
