He is no. 233 in the Burnand genealogy. He studied theology at the Acad�mie de Lausanne, and was, after some detours in his career, consacrated as a minister in November, 1881. He served as suffragant at Chesalles, Orbe, Rances, Vevey, and Begnins, then as pastor at Les Granges de Sainte Croix 1883-1888, teacher of languages at the College of Rolle 1888-1894, suffragant at Ballens 1894-1895, Montet-Cudrefin 1895-1896, and then as pastor in that parish 1896-1903.
After retiring from the ministry, he soon found work as secretary and later as translator in the Department of the Interior in Switzerland. His last position was at the Swiss Federal Archives. Among his many historical writings are accounts of Henri Bouquet, Othon I de Grandson, and, published after his death, the international ecclesiastical conference held at Payerne in October, 1658. He was a frequent contributor to the Bulletin of the Soci�t� du Vieux-Moudon.
He was one of the authors, along with Paul Fran�ois Burnand, of the Burnand genealogy published after his death in the Recueil des G�n�alogies Vaudoises.
He was baptised at Syens as "Baptisar", son of Daniel "Burnon" of Vulliens, and he was named for "Batisard Jaiet", whom we can recognize as Baltazard Jayet from other records. He appears next, with his sister Marie, in the church records at Moudon as "Baltasard" son of Daniel Burnand, 26 dec 1619, probably signifying that he had recently passed his first communion and was now eligible for marriage. However, the same must be said of Marie, who would be the one born in 1604.
Another source says Baltzard Burnand married first Marguerite Wurstemberger, before his marriage to Benoicte Dutoit. Also, it is not certain that he was the Baltazard Burnand who later married Catherine Frossard (it is possible that this reference is an error for Isaac Burnand, who actually did marry Catherine Frossard in 1669). In the early records at Syens and Moudon, and in the records of some of the notaries as well, it appears there may have been some confusion between the distinct names Balthazard and Baptiste. Was Balthazard sometimes listed as Baptisaz, Baptizard, or Baptis�, or was there actually another man named Jean Baptiste Burnand? The Burnand genealogy makes no mention of a Baptiste, so we interpret Baptisaz and Baptis� as errors for Baltazard. Another possibility is that some of the citations interpreted as Burnand may in fact pertain to the Burnat family. In particular, a document of Antoine Richard, notary at Moudon, 21 may 1607, involves a sale by Baptiste, son of the late Egr�ge Daniel Burnat, bourgeois de Moudon, to Jean son of George Fauchieres of Bussy.
The Burnand genealogy also gives him a third wife, Sarah DeMont.
He is absent from the church records of Moudon for a long time, until he appears as a sponsor at a baptism 03 feb 1637, "Balthazar Burnand bourgeois de Moudon demeurant � Vevay". He might have baptised additional children at Vevey before that date.

He is no. 81 in the Burnand genealogy. He may be the Bartholomaeus Daniel Burnana, gente Helvetus, age 30, who enrolled at the University of Leiden, 06 aug 1744. He also studied at the Acad�mie de Lausanne. He was deacon at Lucens, 1748-1755, pastor at Avenches 1755-1771, at Montpreveyres 1771-1779.
She is no. 27 in the Burnand genealogy. Baptismal date from the church records of Moudon. The Burnand genealogy, apparently quoting a "livre de famille" dating from the end of the18th Century, says she was baptised on 01 may 1658 and died a week later, 08 may 1658.
She is no. 290 in the Burnand genealogy. Her will dated 24 feb 1809 is filed at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury. It names her sister Frances Burnand, her brother Lewis, and her widowed mother Mary Burnand. Helen Rivaz appeared before the court on 21 mar 1809 to validate the will; she was probably an in-law.
He is no. 50 in the Burnand genealogy. Testament recorded by Isaac Dutoit, notary, 12 mar 1708, notes brothers Olivier, Abraham Samuel, and Denis Gu�rard. Baptismal date from the Burnand genealogy.
