He is no. 39 in the Bégoz genealogy, which gives him a baptismal date of 02 jul 1661, the same date given as the birth date of a sister Jeanne Marie, of whom we found no trace. He was baptised at Aubonne, under the name Henri Louis, but the Bégoz genealogy calls him François Henri Louis. As Henri Louis, he served as assesseur baillival and conseiller at Aubonne.
A further difficulty in the Bégoz genealogy is that his first two children (said to be twins) appear to have been born about 1700, while the remainder were born in the interval 1728-1746, certainly an impossibility. It is very likely that two generations have been combined. In fact, it may be that the second son, François Louis, is the father of the remaining children now attached to this family. The Bégoz genealogy notes that he died in 1736 (but with a question mark, indicating some sort of uncertainty), leaving the first three children. If this is true, of course the additional children (apparently from material collected by the genealogist Charles-Philippe du Mont) could not be his. But since the birth date given for Marie is so late (1728), it may be that François Henri Louis had a daughter Marie who was born much earlier, whose baptism has not been identified, and then the later François also had a daughter Marie Louise born in 1728.
He is no. 32 in the Bégoz genealogy. He appears as a sponsor at a baptism 21 feb 1668, along with his sister Françoise. It may be presumed that he and his sister had passed their first communion, and were therefore probably about age 15-17, and born no later than about 1653. That would place their dates of birth prior to the marriage of their parents, so it is possible that there was another, unknown marriage before their father married Dorothée de Lavigny.
Her verbal testament, under the name Marie Imberte, was dictated 10 dec 1724, describing her as fille cadette de feu Imbert Begoz d'Aubonne. Her sister is the wife of the conseiller Vouchy. Her two brothers are the assesseur and conseiller [Gabriel François] Begoz, and the justicier [Estienne Louys] Begoz. Her mother is still living. Probated 16 jan 1725. (ACV Bib 140, p. 320).
He is no. 27 in the Bégoz genealogy. The names of the wives were puzzling at first. Was Judith Elizabeth Barbille Asperlin, listed as the first wife, the same person as Elizabeth Barbille Asperlin, who married Gabriel Monod before 1671? If Barbille married Gabriel Monod as the widow of Isaac François Bégoz (divorce being very unlikely at that era), then Louise Forel must have been the first wife of Bégoz, not the second. Judith is listed as the mother of the first two children listed here; the baptism of the third child has not been located. Another problem is the death date of Isaac François Bégoz. If he died in 1687, then Judith Elizabeth Barbille Asperlin could not be the wife of Gabriel Monod. Was there another Elizabeth Barbille Asperlin? Eventually, we found the baptisms of the Asperlin family. Judith Elizabeth Barbille was born in 1643, her sister Elizabeth Barbille in 1645.
The ACV has a copy of a document relating to his citizenship at Morges, 03 jul 1731, confirming a previous document of 19 mar 1677 (ACV Bik 1493, not yet examined).
He is no. 61 in the Bégoz genealogy. Elswhere, he is identified as owner of the Château d'Es-Bons near Aubonne, the account specifiying his line of descent from Benjamin Bégoz and Anteine (Antonia) Valier, daughter of Benjamin Valier, notary.
He is no. 24 in the Bégoz genealogy. He was minister at Lavigny and deacon at Aubonne at the time of his marriage in 1652. He also served as minister at Bursins.
The Bégoz genealogy places him as no. 11, son of the Vidomne Gabriel Bégoz. The Vidomne had a son Jean Jaques, but that son, a minor in 1546, cannot be the same Jean Jaques who survived until about 1645 and baptised a daughter in 1629. Likewise, Gabriel, the other son of the Vidomne, was likely not the Gabriel who was the cordonnier, and apparently the brother of the younger Jean Jaques. We suggest the present arrangement in order to remove the difficulties of chronology, but the parentage of the present Jean Jaques remains to be proved.
She is no. 16 in the Bégoz genealogy. The marriage record at Aubonne identifies her as Jeanne Françoise daughter of Gabriel Begos or possibly Begue, bourgeois d'Aubonne, but, however, the same record identifies the groom as the son of the late Louis Valier, vivant bourgeois d'Aubonne. The different phraseology might indicate that her father was still living. The record of her second marriage, also at Aubonne, calls her Jeanne Françoise Begos, relaissée de feu Nicolas Valier. So far, we know of only one child, her daughter Jeanne Vallier born in 1636. From this date, she should have been born no earlier than 1591, and possibly as late as 1620. Consequently, her parentage — that is, which of the Gabriels was her father — is also in question.
She is no. 28 in the Bégoz genealogy, which missed her baptism (the baptism, however, says simply Judith daughter of Monsieur Bégoz Châtelain d'Allaman).
The Bégoz genealogy apparently missed her baptism, which was recorded at Aubonne. She was a daughter of minister Jean Jaques Bégoz and Jeanne Marie Rolaz, daughter of a Dushuttins (this apparently an allusion to Noble Etienne Rolaz, Châtelain de Mont and Seigneur des Uttins). Her parentage in the Gélieu family record (where the marriage to Isaac François Robert, a Gélieu relative, is recorded) is not completely legible, her complete name is from the church registers at Aubonne. Witnesses at her baptism were Gabriel Bégoz and Jaques Valier.
