He is no. 22 in the B�goz geneaogy. We are probably missing the baptisms of at least several more of his children, because the early church records at Aubonne are lost (the first baptism there is dated 02 jul 1629). The marriage date is from the same genealogy, but no source was given. He seems to have been the only male of his family who survived to continue the family name. It may be that this circumstance also had the effect of concentrating the wealth of the family in his hands. The B�goz genealogy mentions a portrait at Perroy.

The B�goz genealogy identifies his second wife as "Doroth�e-Marguerite de Lavigny, veuve de noble Gabriel du Nant de Gen�ve, fille de noble Gabriel de Lavigny, coseigneur de B�rolles, et de Lucr�ce de Senarclens." However, her first marriage at Aubonne, 13 aug 1640, says she married Noble Gamaliel Dunant, bourgeois et conseiller d'Aubonne, son of the late Noble Spectable Pierre Dunant, minister at Vevey — and the same record says Doroth�e Marguerite was the daughter of Noble Gabriel de Lavigny. We follow the record at Aubonne, which seems more plausible.

The papers of the archivist Olivier Dessemontet contain analyses of a number of families connected to Benjamin B�goz (ACV P Dessemontet 2/8, 9, 11, and 3/1, 2, 6, 8, 9, not yet examined).

He appears to have spent some time in Geneva. A contract from about 1619 (AEG notary Etienne Reveillod, vol. 22, p. 423) concerns "affermage pour 4 ans, d'un serviteur, le chargeant de la totalit� d'un commerce et boutique de draperie. Noble Abraham Magnin bourgeois et seigneur de Martherey et son fr�re Louis donnent � g�rer leur commerce au sieur Benjamin B�goz d'Aubonne, habitant." It certainly sounds as though Benjamin was sent to Geneva to gain business experience. We found no other mentions of him during this period in the records of the notaries of Geneva, but the church records have not yet been checked.
