Ellen Reynolds Overton

Mrs. Ellen Reynolds Overton, of 1101 Lebanon Avenue, daughter of the late Mr. Layfett Reynolds and Mrs. Emeline Sowders Reynolds, was born in Bell County, Kentucky, April 29, 1888. She died suddenly at 5:55 p.m., Friday, January 12, 1973 enroute to the Taylor County Hospital.  Mrs. Overton was 84 years of age.  She professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.  She united in marriage to Mr. Charles C. Overton in 1907.  He preceded her in death September 1941.  Geneva Overton died in infancy March 30, 1913.  Mrs. Omer Tutder preceded her mother in death March 12, 1939.  Mr. Orvill Overton preceded his mother in death September 2, 1944.  Surviving are Mrs. Albert Caulk, Mrs. Bill Cave, both of Campbellsville; Mrs. Ed Raffety of Campbellsville, Route 2; Mrs. George Morris of Finley, Route 2; twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by ten brothers and one sisters:  Mr. Jeff Reynolds and Mr. Stanley Reynolds, both of Campbellsville, Route 1; Mr. Lee Reynolds of Campbellsville, Route 4; Mr. Johnnie Reynolds of Campbellsville, Star Route; Mr. Billie Reynolds and Mrs. Omer Benningfield, both of Finley, Route 2; Mr. Marvin Reynolds of Raywick, Route 1; Mr. George Reynolds, Mr. Fayette Reynolds and Mr. Walter Reynolds, all of Lebanon; and Mr. Romey Reynolds of Horse Cave; also several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 14, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville conducted by Rev. W. R. Beard, Rev. C. W. Devine, and Dr. J. Chester Badgett.  Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers: Gary Raffety, Russell Caulk, Lowell Caulk, Lynwood Cave, James Overton, and Jerry Belk.  ~Obituaries of Taylor County, Kentucky, Volume V, compiled by Eunice Montgomery Wright, p. 38
