He was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Lima to Edward C. and Shirley Sauer Bishop, who
preceded him in death. His stepmother, Grace Bishop, preceded him in death. He
had been married to Beverly Shinaberry Bishop, who survives in Phoenix. On
Oct. 11, 1985, he married Linda Beeler Shepherd, who survives.
Mr. Bishop retired as a machine operator at Ford Motor Co. He also worked as
an Allen County Special Deputy from 1962 to 1973. He attended First Church of
God at the Cross Roads. He attended South High School. He had a passion for
classic cars, motorcycles, and enjoyed time at home with his family.
Survivors also include three sons, Jack (Martie) Bishop Jr. of Lima, Douglas
Bishop of Phoenix, Todd (Bernadette) Bishop of Medina; two stepsons, Bryon
Shepherd of Columbus, and Eric Shepherd of Fairfield; two daughters, Cheri
Bishop of Sidney and Dawn Cornejo of Phoenix; a stepdaughter, Lori Shepherd of
Columbus; two stepsisters, Nancy Stapleton of Spencerville and Carol (Bill)
Conley of Lima; and 11 grandchildren, Josh Bishop, Jeremy Bishop, Chad Bishop,
Riley Bishop, Zachary Bishop, Dylan Bishop, Jaden Bishop, Jessica Rice, Angela
Bishop, Jensen Bishop and Madison Bishop.
He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Bishop.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes,
Lewis Chapel. Pastor Ken Love will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park
Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice or First Church of
God Building Fund.
