La Curé Ferland & the Parish Two anniversaries were celebrated on July 24, 1952. The Storthoaks Parish foundation was celebrating its 50th anniversary and Pastor M. Ferland had served the parish since 1902. A banquet followed the morning mass. Mgr. O'Neil presided over the ceremonies, J.B. Paradis was the choir master and Mrs. O'Neil presented an English homily followed by a French homily by P Tourigny. The Mr. M. Le curé Foisy acted as master of ceremonies at the feast. Mr. and Mrs. Noël Fournier were at the feast. Mrs. Fournier was 84 years of age and one of the original four pioneers to arrive at Storthoaks. A band had been invited to the ceremonies. A parade of several floats was amongst the afternoon activities. The floats recounted parish history and memories. A child's singing choir, musical and dramatic productions regaled the evening festivities. Remembered amongst the performances was a unique re-enactment. The first marriage in Storthoaks was recalled between Mr. Louis Dentiger and Miss Priscille Boulét. M.O. Carrière and Miss Mariette Dumaine played the respective parts. If there is more information concerning these descendants I'm very interested to write with them. Thank you very much Denise Pelletier |
