Gelowitz
School District No. 1450

Constructed of local fieldstone
in 1907 by a stone-mason from the
district. Gelowitz school and barn
were named after the homesteader
on whose land they were located.
George M. Gelowitz.

The school remained in operation
until 1964, at which time the high
school students were bussed to
Melville and grade school students
went to either Grayson or Killaly.
During these years the majority of
students were of German ancestry.

Dedicated to the pioneering spirit of
the students, teachers and trustees
of Gelowitz school NE1/4 22-20-6-W2.

Erected in 1965 by the Gelowitz
school district reunion committee
and the Government of Saskatchewan.
