The Provincial archives of Saskatchewan have the finding aids available in print copy, and they are also available here to view in pdf (courtesy of the Provincial archives of Saskatchewan.) A finding aid, in the context of archival science, is a document containing detailed information about a specific collection of papers or records within an archive rather like a table of contents or detailed index. Finding aids are used by researchers to determine whether information within a collection is relevant to their research. The finding aid for a collection is usually compiled by an archivist or librarian during archival processing. These pdf files are online to allow the researcher a glimps of what is available to view when attending the archives in person. At times certain records may be transferred between Regina and the Saskatoon offices depending on the nature of the record and if it can be transported or not. The finding aids listed here are not the full nature of holdings of the provincial archives of Saskatchewan by any means, just a summary of the more pertinent records in regards to holdings which cover the scope of the historical Provincial Department of Education papers, or Education historical documents. For further searches it may behoove the researcher to utilise the Provincial archives of Saskatchewan Threshold listing online. Instructions on using the archives.
