Both the paternal and maternal grandparents came from Ireland at an early day. Mr. Mooney engaged in farming for many years and his labors were crowned with success. He is now living retired in Pakenham, a highly respected and esteemed citizen. Mr. Mooney was married to Margaret Stanton in Fitzroy Har- bour and to them eight children have been born, all of whom are living, William J. Mooney of this review, being the third in order of birth. Mr. and Mrs. Mooney are consistent communicants of the Roman Catholic church and the father is a stanch supporter of the Liberal party. The public schools of his birthplace afforded William J. Mooney his preliminary education and he attended high school in Shortridge, Indiana, United States of America. For several years he traveled for the Reeves Threshing Machine Company of Columbus, Indiana, while attending school, and he also traveled out of Regina. His. boyhood ambition was to become a dentist and in 1914 he entered a dental college at Indian- apolis, Indiana, where he was a student until 1917, in which year the D. D. S. degree was conferred upon him. He then received an appoint- ment as medical interne at the School for Feeble-Minded, at Fort Wayne, Indiana, and subsequently removed to Fowler, Indiana, where he prac- ticed six months. At the termination of that time he went to the North- western University, Chicago, and took postgraduate work. He was appointed on the exemption board at Silver City, New Mexico, during the Great war and he remained in that city, practicing his profession, for about one year. In 1919 he came to Regina and has since practiced here. He is a man of genial and pleasing personality, is thoroughly versed in his profession and is worthy of his success. In August, 1919, Dr. Mooney was married to Miss Elizabeth Lynett, who was born in Ayton, Ontario, where she received her education. She was employed in the Land Titles office in Regina for some time prior to her marriage to Dr. Mooney. She possesses great personal charm and is prominent in club and social circles. The religious faith of the Doctor is that of the Catholic church and he is a consistent communicant of the Holy Rosary church. He is an active member of the Knights of Columbus, in which organization he is now grand knight, and he also holds membership in the Benevolent Pro- tective Order of Elks. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Wascana Country Club. He is very fond of golf and spends much of his spare time in that sport. During his school days Dr. Mooney played hockey. Along strictly professional lines he is identified with the Dental Association of Regina and was president of the association in 1919. He is devoted to his profession and he has little time for outside interests, although he is ever ready to support measures for the upbuilding of Regina. By reason of his close application and thoroughness the Doctor has reached the creditable place he now occupies. Bibliography follows:
