COLLINS W. BOLTON.
One of the most successful insurance men throughout the Dominion is Collins W. Bolton, special representative of the Home Insurance Com- pany of New York in Saskatoon, having well appointed offices in the Connaught building. He is a self-made man and is readily conceded to be one of Saskatoon's most public-spirited and progressive citizens. He was born at Portland, Ontario, in January, 1881, a son of William J. and Elizabeth (Parker) Bolton, natives of Ontario. The father was an agri- culturist and farmed in Ontario for a good many years. He also owned and operated land in the province of Saskatchewan. The last eighteen years of his life Mr. Bolton lived retired, enjoying the fruits of hard labor in earlier years-a just reward. Mrs. Bolton died on the 29th of July, 1885, and thirty-five years later, on the same day of the same month, Mr. Bolton passed away. Collins W. Bolton was reared and educated in Leeds county, Ontario, and remained on the home farm until he was seventeen years of age. In 1899 he came west and located in Manitoba, near Ninga, where he worked on a farm for a year. He then accepted a position with the Lake of the Woods Milling Company as assistant buyer and was active in that capacity twelve months. At the termination of that time he became asso- ciated with the Big Implement Company at Deloraine, Manitoba, in the capacity of salesman and in the fall of the same year opened a new ele- vator at Cameron for the Lake of the Woods Milling Company, again entering the service of that concern as buyer, occupying this position for two and one-half years. He then went to Winnipeg, where in March of the year 1905, he made his initial step into insurance circles, a line of work which he has since successfully followed. He accepted a position on the road with the Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company and re- mained in its employ until February, 1908, when he resigned to accept a position with the Central Canada Insurance Company, as superinten- dent of agencies for Manitoba and he discharged the duties of that office until June, 1910, when he came to Saskatoon and joined the Canada Na- tional Insurance Company. In the fall of 1911 he was made manager of that company and continued as such until the 31st of December, 1914, when he resigned to accept his present position as special representative of the Home Insurance Company, with headquarters in Saskatoon. He opened up the western branch for the company and has jurisdiction over Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Since accepting this position Mr. Bolton has established offices in Winnipeg and Calgary. He has proved to be the right man for the place and is one of the Home Insurance Company's most capable and efficient officials. Mr. Bolton is a director in the Northwest Adjustment Company, with head- quarters in Winnipeg. In September, 1909, Mr. Bolton was married to Miss Julia Lloyd, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Lloyd, natives of the province of On- tario. The father engaged in farming for a number of years in that province and subsequently entered the real estate business, in which he was equally successful. He is now retired from active business life and is living in Brandon. Mr. and Mrs. Bolton have three children: Lloyd, whose birth occurred on the 30th of January, 1914; Phyllis, whose natal day was the 14th of June, 1917; and Harold, who was born on the 22d of April, 1919. In his political views Mr. Bolton is a Conservative and he maintains an active interest in party affairs, and has been a member of the city council for five years. He is a member of the hospital board and belongs to the executive committee of the local Board of Trade. Fraternally he is identified with the Masons and holds membership in Imperial Lodge, No.60. Socially he is connected with the Saskatoon Club, the Riverside Country Club and the Saskatoon Golf Club. Until the fall of 1922 he was chief executive of the Canadian Hail Underwriters Association, with headquarters in Regina, and he has been on the executive committee of the association since that time. The religious faith of Mr. Bolton is that of the Anglican church. Mr. Bolton is farsighted, energetic and am- bitious, qualities which have greatly assisted him in making for himself a place among the foremost business men of the province. Bibliography follows:
