Danish Saskatchewan Genealogy Roots

Denmark - Danish

Around 1901, Simon Hjortnæs encouraged Danish settlement in the Alida and Redvers regions of the Weyburn Gen Web Region. Winnipeg Pastor Niels Damskov also promoted Danish immigration to this newly settled Dannevirke colony. By the 1920s other Danish settlements included those in the city of Lloydminster as well as around Canwood.
