Red's Saskatchewan Churches, Cemeteries, Schools near New Finland, Whitewood, and Yorkton, Saskatchewan
Welcome to the Yorkton and area Heritage Site Reds Saskatchewan

Hello and Tervetuloa (Welcome): I'm retired and take drives around the countryside near Yorkton. I have pictures of some of the old school sites and am willing to share them with you I also went to the Coverdale school near Moosomin in the late 40's and early 50's.
This project began with images of One Room Schoolhouses, and expanded to include information about the New Finland District and the early Finnish immigrants in southeastern Saskatchewan. Therafter cemeteries, churches and historical books were additionally included beginning in the area around the New Finland District, Whitewood, Insinger, and Yorkton. Photos and history of cemeteries, schools, and churches expanded from this area to the province of Saskatchewan, and outside of Saskatchewan as well to the North West Territories! Cemetery transcription and photographed grave markers from parish cemeteries located throughout the New Finland District, and expanding on annual excursions to historically and culturally intesting sites across Saskatchewan.

Visitors to the site provided permissions to use historical information from books that they published. These books definitely further enhance information found on those historical plaques and monuments photographed around the province.

The New Finland History and Heritage Society came together in meetings to promote and facilitate historical and genealogical research by providing online presentations and information as it becomes available. It is the intention of this site to share the Finnish pioneering history of the New Finland district in south eastern Saskatchewan, Finnish history of other communities across North America, links to Finnish historical and genealogical websites in North America and in Finland.

The aim of the New Finland History and Heritage Society is to encourage interest in Finnish history and genealogy. Anyone interested in the history of Finnish history and culture is warmly welcomed to contact us. The project has expanded beyond Saskatchewan, encompassing historical information and Finnish history in Manitoba, and North America. If you have any questions, would like to share your story or are seeking information, please contact us! We do indeed look forward to hearing from you.

Till I hear from you.
