There are some Dating Aids online for how to determine when the photograph or picture of the post card was taken. The US Gen Web Archives Penny Postcards web page lists several different types of Postcards. There are also many pages devoted to the various methods of preservation of historical memorabalia. This online web site Vintage Post Cards offers one method of electronic preservation.

Copyright and images available in the public domain are set according to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works Pictures and images may be part of the public domain if published in the USA according to this chart which was using its publishing date of 2003 US Public Domain Chart. Some sites publish materials in the public domain such as the Library and Archives Canada. Public Domain - Country Specific - In Canada photographs and post cards are generally accepted into the public domain if 50 years of publication or older.
