Post Resistance Recollections- 2010

Jackie is a second great granddaughter

Who recalls the 1885 Batoche slaughter

Marguerite and Jean Caron are now gone-

Only bare fields left for her to walk on.

Sadness remained a companion ‘til now

Open honest dialect unfurls her brow.

It’s time to forget the injustice and harm

-Pride and respect as she revisits the farm.

Multigenerational pain remains for some

Understand when we grieve, it must be done

It is a painful part of Canadian history, to all

“It must be told,” says our Premier Brad Wall.

Recovery requires recognizing our strength

Give adequate recovery supports at length.

Grief work takes time and recovery is slow

Know that we need loving support bestowed.
