Cymru Am Byth

On June 28, 1902, approximately two hundred Welsh settlers arrived in Saltcoats from Patagonia and travelled to the Llewelyn and Glyndwr districts to build communities where they could farm, worship, establish schools, and retain the language and culture they cherished. By 1903, settlers came to the Bangor area. These communities grew to include settlers from Wales and the United States.

On July 19th and July 20,2002, a celebration to honour these Welsh pioneers took place in Bangor.

"To be born Welsh is to be born privileged, not with a silver spoon in your mouth, but with poetry in your blood and music in your soul."

Dedicated on behalf of all those who attended the Welsh centennial celebration in 2002.
