CHEREMKORA � Annie (nee Fincaryk) Cheremkora age 84 of Sturgis, died on Sept. 5, 1984 in the Preeceville Hospital. Funeral service was held at Grace United Church in Sturgis and burial in the Muchowko Cemetery. Born on May 14, 1905 in Sifton, Manitoba to Alex and Molly Fincaryk, she was married to Paul Cheremkora at Sturgis in 1919. Predeceased by her parents, her husband in 1957; two sons, Peter in 1988 and Mike in 1941; three grandsons, Bryan in 1965, Boris in 1972 and Ronald in 1973; three brothers, Bill, Joe and Laddie; two sisters, Mary and Joyce; she is survived by four sons, Willie (Elsie) and Adam (Olga) of Delta, BC, Sam (Jeanette) of Sturgis and Michael of New Westminister, BC; four daughters, Mary Trotzuk, Julie (Hugh) Sutherland, Caroline (Marion) Firomski of Arran and Joan (Gerald) Gossen of Hepburn; five brothers, Mike Fincaryk of Sturgis, Jim, Sandy and Leo of New Westminister and John of Winnipeg; four sisters, Nellie Foria of Regina, Stella Monuik of Wawota, Margaret Monuik of Gorlitz and Dale Kosty of Nanaimo; 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

CHEREMKORA � Paul Cheremkora was born July 12, 1895 in Western Ukraine, in the village of Winiatynce. He arrived in Canada with his father Simon in 1902. They took a homestead three miles east of Stenen and then moved to a farm north east of Sturgis. He married Annie Fincaryk in July 1919. Paul and Annie had nine children: Peter, Mary, William, Mike, Sam, Julia, Adam, Michael and Caroline. They farmed until 1944, when they moved to New Westminister, BC. They came back to the farm in 1947. Paul passed away on May 6, 1957.

FINCARYK � Molly (nee Hydamaka) Fincaryk age 95 of Sturgis, died on April 9th in the Preeceville Hospital, after a long illness. Funeral held at Grace United Church and burial in the family plot in Cheremkora farm cemetery (Muchowko/Holick). Born in the Ukraine, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hydamaka, she came to Canada in 1920. In the same year she married Alex Fincaryk and they lived in Manitoba until 1906 when they settled in the Sturgis district, where they farmed until retiring to Sturgis in 1956. Predeceased by her husband in 1964 and a son Bill in 1972, she is survived by seven sons, Joe, Mike and Laddie of Sturgis, John of Yorkton, Metro and Sandy of New Westminster, Leo of Chiliwack; seven daughters, Mary Melnychuk and Anne Cheremkora of Sturgis, Nellie Forai of Regina, Stella Moniuk of Wawota, Joyce Manglsen of New Westminster, Margaret Moniuk of Gorlitz and Helen Kosty of Surrey; 68 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

FINKARYK � Joseph Finkaryk 64, of Regina and formerly of Sturgis, passed away on April 7, 1982 in the Pasqua Hospital. Funeral service held at Grace United Church in Sturgis. Born March 7, 1918 at Sturgis, he was the son of Alex and Molly Fincaryk. Predeceased by his parents; a brother, Bill and a sister Mary Melnychuk; he is survived by six brothers, Jim of Burnaby, Sandy and Leo of New Westminister, John of Winnipeg, and Mike and Laddie of Sturgis; and six sisters, Annie Cheremkora of Sturgis, Nellie Forai of Regina, Stella Moniuk of Wawota, Joyce Mangelsen of New Westminister, Margaret Monuik of Gorlitz and Dale Kosty of Surrey, BC.

GOGAL � Edward Gogal 75, of Stenen, passed away July 23, 2003. Funeral service was held at St. Patrick�s Church in Sturgis and burial in Muchowko Cemetery. Born on Sept 23, 1927, in the Stenen district to Samko and Antonia (Firomski) Gogal, he attended Woodlight School. He did some logging, but farmed most of his life. Predeceased by his parents, Antonia and Samko; a brother Joe and four sisters, Pauline Davies, Mary Gogal, Magda Gogal and Helen Smud; he is survived by two brothers, Mike of Norquay and Thomas of Kamsack; and two sisters, Nellie of Edmonton and Verna Orheim of Delta, BC.

HAIDAMAKA � Julia Haidamaka (also spelled Hydamaka) was born in 1924 to parents, Onofrey and Mary Haidamaka on the family homestead north of Sturgis. She grew up with siblings, William, John, Mike, Metro and Peter. Julia died at the age of 4 due to burns.

HAIDAMAKA � Maria (nee Cheremkora) Haidamaka was born in Austria and the youngest child of Sam and Julia Cheremkora. In 1905, she and her brothers, John and Paul, left Austria traveled to Yorkton, SK where they met by their father. The family settled west of Hyas. She married Onofrey Haidamaka in 1911. The couple farmed north of Sturgis and raised a large family. Twin sons died at birth and a daughter, Julia died at the age of four. Her other children were Annie, Nellie, William, John, Mike, Metro, Peter, Paul and Dan. Maria died in 1964.

HAIDAMAKA � Onofrey Haidamaka (also spelled Hydamaka) was born in 1894 in Austria, the second son of Wasyl and Tekena Hydamaka. At the age of seven, he along with his parents, brother Nick and sisters, Molly and Mary came to Canada. The family first settled at Sifton, MB and then moved to a homestead north of Sturgis. He married Mary Cheremkora in 1911 at Stenen and farmed his fathers homestead. Onofrey and Mary had nine sons and four daughters. Twin boys died at birth and daughter, Julia died at the age of four. The other children were Annie, Nellie, William, John, Mike, Metro, Peter, Paul and Dan. Onofrey passed away in 1956.

HAIDAMAKA � Pit (Peter) Haidamaka was born in 1922 to parents Onofrey and Mary (Cheremkora) Haidamaka. He grew up on the family homestead north of Sturgis. In 1945 a horse killed him. He was laid to rest in the Cheremkora family cemetery (Holick Cemetery), 17 miles NE of Sturgis.

KLEMCHUK � Petro Klemchuk was born in 1871. In 1905 he left his homeland Austria and came to Canada in search of work. He labored at various sawmills in northern Ontario, saving a little money and then returned to Austria four years later. In 1912, Peter, his wife Julia and their three children, Katherine, Nick and Pearl immigrated to Canada. After a short stay in Winnipeg. In 1913, he purchased a homestead in the Goldbank school district and farmed for many years. On August 5, 1945, Peter suffered a stroke, which paralyzed and him without speech. He died at home on August 19, 1945.

STROCEL � Jimmy Strocel was born on September 15, 1940 to parents John and Anne (nee Pakulak) Strocel. He passed away on September 20, 1940.

STROCEL - Mabel Strocel was born on September 24, 1933, to parents John and Anne Strocel. The family lived on a farm in the Woodlight district. Mabel�s siblings were Elsie, Ted, Olga, Effie and Orest. Mabel died at the age of nine on April 15, 1943. She was laid to rest in the Holick Cemetery, 17 miles NE of Sturgis.
