ACKERMAN - Anne Katharina (nee Mack) Ackerman 1931 - 2013, late of Regina and formerly of Chamberlain, Sask., passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas, parents Valentine and Katherine Mack, sister Genevieve Fink. Anne is lovingly remembered by her family: son Glenn (Valerie), daughter Shirley (Gene) Kutcher, daughter Linda (Clarence) Folk, son Tom (Crystal); grandchildren Michael Kutcher (Ashley Emperingham), Amie Kutcher (Justin Emperingham), Justin Folk, Stephanie Folk, James Ackerman, and Mariah Ackerman; great-grandson Blake Kutcher. Interment in Chamberlain Cemetery at a later date. ACKERMAN - Bernard Jack Ackerman, aged 94 years of Moose Jaw and formerly of Chamberlain, Sask., passed away Sunday, February 12th, 2012. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church (1064 3rd Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw) with Father Rick Krofchek as Presiding Celebrant. Interment will take place at Chamberlain Cemetery. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held on Monday, February 13th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home (268 Mulberry Lane). Bernard was predeceased by his wife Susan (Sue) (1994); son-in-law Albert Bitz (2011). ACKERMAN - Maria "Mary" Magdelina (nee Lang). Mary passed away peacefully on Monday, June 27, 2005 at the age of 89. Maria Magdelina was born to Joseph and Magdelina Lang on September 18, 1915. She married John Ackerman in 1936 after which they settled and farmed in the Chamberlain area. They moved to Regina in the 1960's. Since 2001, she had been a resident of Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. Mary was predeceased by an infant son in 1939, and her husband John, in 1991. She is survived by one son Jerry (Sharon) of Regina; one daughter Lorraine of Strathmore, Alberta, her two children, Belinda (Thor) Cartwright and Kim Mahlberg, as well as two great-grandchildren, Austin Cartwright and Stephanie Mahlberg. She is also survived by two sisters, Katie Wolfe, Regina; Cecelia Schroeder, Craik; two brothers, Sebastian (Dorothy) Lang, Chamberlain; and Joe (Evelyn) Lang, Saskatoon, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the Chapel in Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home, 4215 Regina Avenue, with Rev. Ken Koep officiating. ACKERMAN - Mary Katherine (nee Kohler) passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2004 at the age of 92 years. Formerly of Chamberlain, SK, but recently residing in Regina and Mill Bay, BC, Mary is predeceased by her husband Philip Ackerman in 1993, grandson Philip Polard, brother Peter Kohler; sisters: Agnes Huber, Susan Ackerman, Matilda (Tillie) Ackerman. Mary was born and raised in the Holdfast area until she married, and lived, farmed and raised her family in the Chamberlain area until retiring in 1977 in Regina. Visitation for all will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2004 at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. ACKERMAN - Thomas John, born on September 23, 1921, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2001. Predeceased by his parents, Magdelena and Phillip Ackerman; brothers: Phillip, Andrew and Nicholas; sisters: Magdelena, Rose and Barbara. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Anne Ackerman (nee Mack); his four children: Glenn (Valerie); Shirley (Gene) Kutcher; Linda (Clarence) Folk; Tom (Crystal), and five grandchildren: Michael and Amie Kutcher; Justin and Stephanie Folk, and James Ackerman. He is also survived by his brother, Bernard and sister, Mary Zentner as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, Junuary 29, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chamberlain Roman Catholic Church. Reverend Father Lester Kaufmann will be the Mass Celebrant. Private family memorialization will take place at the Chamberlain Cemetery. BAUDAIS - Elsie Kathrine (nee Gebert) passed away peacefully on Sunday September 4, 2011. Elsie was born at Chamberlain, Sask. on November 3, 1919. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Arthur Baudais and two stepsons, Dale (Loreen) and Otto (Elaine). Elsie was educated at Kayville, Sk., Antigonish, NS, Boston, Mass., Banff, AB and the University of Saskatchewan. She was an accomplished photographer and seamstress. Her teaching career took her to Vancouver where she met her husband Arthur. For many years they traveled abroad and throughout North America wintering in Hawaii. Then Arizona's warm sun became their great attraction until they were no longer able to travel. The family would like to thank the staff at Westminster House, White Rock: Doctor Vanukuru and the Hilltop Medical staff, Peace Arch Hospital Staff 6th Floor. Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she was predeceased by her husband Tony, her brothers Leo, Joseph, John and sister Victoria Paquette. Left to cherish her memories are her sons Bill (Georgia) Benko [Israel/Cyprus] and Bob (Judy) Benko [Oregon]; four grandchildren: Sandra, Susan, Marie and Cody as well as 11 great grandchildren. Her sisters Loretta Mengel, Mary Rogoschewsky, Anne Metz and brother George (Margret). Katherine will be remembered for her sacrificial, loving and gentle ways. Relatives gathered for her interment at Chamberlain Cemetery on Friday, November 9, 2012. BENNETT - Cleveland (September 13, 1920 � January 17, 2015). Cleveland Bennett formerly of Chamberlain, SK. has gone to his heavenly home and is joined in his passing to his wife of sixty-five years, Doris who predeceased him three months previous. Also predeceasing Cleve are his parents, Mary and J.C. Bennett, brother, Jim (Viola) Bennett, sister Opal (Ed) Harris and sister-in-law Hilda Bennett in addition to Rae Bennett, wife of his grandson John and a nephew Doug Bennett. Cleve will be greatly missed for his wise words, stories and insights by his daughter Elaine Bennett Fox; son, Lyle (Kathy) Bennett and daughter, Nola (Darren) Shatkowski; grandchildren Autumn, Carman (Diana Buckingham), Doyle, Alexandra Fox (Andrew Kuzma), John Bennett (Rhonda Christison), Dennis (Dawn) Bennett, Melanie (Kevin) Pare, Matthew (Amanda) Waters, Daphne and Dawson Shatkowski; great- grandchildren: Dean, Haley and Taylor Bennett, Kayla, Chelsie and Riley Christison, Blair and Bek Bennett, Julia and Lilah Pare and Madilyn Waters; brother Bill Bennett; sister-in-law, Pat Munroe; as well as many nieces and nephews. Cleve was the oldest child in the family and was born at the George Reynoldson farm (Sec. 4-22-26 W of 2nd) outside of Chamberlain. He attended school in Chamberlain and finished high school in Craik. In 1937, Cleve joined his father in operating Bennett's Garage and Truck Transport. In his youth Cleve played ball and hockey in the Sarnia Dufferin leagues. Bennett's Garage had a hall above it and Cleve planned the Saturday Night Dances. In 1940, Cleve enlisted with the RCAF and was stationed in Toronto, Trenton and Calgary followed by a posting to the Sixth Group Command in Yorkshire, England. He was stationed at Topciffe, Skipton and Leaming Bar and finishing at London H.Q. at Lincoln's Inn Field attached to the transport section. Following his arriving home in January 1946, he found the Garage had burned down in 1942 and set to work to rebuild it. It was a time of many opportunities and Cleve took advantage, working in trucking, in the Garage and farming. Marriage and family followed. Always civic-minded, he lent his skills and knowledge to the Chamberlain Telephone Company and Chamberlain Village Council. During his term in office, he was instrumental in having electric street lights installed. In 1959, Cleve and Doris had the privilege to meet Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. During this time, Cleve acted as secretary-treasurer for the project of building the curling rink. Cleve has taken an active part on the Chamberlain United Church Board and was accepted into the Masonic Lodge at Craik. In 1970, he joined the Shriners of the Wa Wa Temple. Cleve also was a member of the Canadian Legion when it was formed in Chamberlain. As the businesses grew so did the family. Life was good and Cleve and Doris took annual holidays to Hawaii. Lyle joined the business in 1974, taking a keen interest in the garage and the farm. Cleve left an amazing legacy of a life well lived and was immensely loved. He was a loving and caring husband, amazing and wise father and a good and honourable man. A Service of Remembrance to celebrate Cleve's life will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Rev. Doug Hallman will officiate and Interment will take place in the Chamberlain Cemetery at a later date BENNETT - Doris Madeline (nee Munroe) October 31, 1930 � October 23, 2014. Doris Bennett, formerly of Chamberlain, SK, passed away quietly in the morning of Thursday, October 23, 2014. Doris will be greatly missed by her husband of 65 years, Cleve Bennett. She was predeceased by her parents, Pearl and Jack Munroe; sister, Thelma Botkin (Bud); brother, Stewart Munroe; as well as Rae Bennett, wife of her grandson John. Doris was a career woman well ahead of her time. As well as being a good cook, a hands-on mother and supporting partner, she worked full time for Canada Post running the Post Office at Chamberlain for close to 60 years, at one time even working 6 days before the 5 day work week was implemented. She will be remembered for many family meals, her great pies and puffed wheat cake, in addition to her amazing garden and hand knit socks and mitts. There are so many wonderful memories that are left with her family. A Service of Remembrance to celebrate Doris' life will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. BENNETT - Elaine (nee Bitz) passed away with her family by her side on July 10, 2006 at the Regina General Hospital. Elaine was born May 29, 1947 to Phil and Whilimena Bitz in the Sunset District south of Chamberlain. Elaine was predeceased by her parents; nephews Randy, Ryan and Shawn; brother-in-law Andy. She is survived by her husband Robert; daughters Sherry (Richard) Schropp, Carrie (Mike) Kistner; grandchildren Tisha and Taylor Kistner; brothers Ed (Shirley) Bitz, Albert (Pearl) Bitz; sisters Millie (Ron) Mangel, Glady Skoropad; brother and sister-in-law Randy (June) Heise, Jim (Brenda) Bennett; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. BENNETT - Viola (nee Duesing). The family of Viola Bennett, of Chamberlain, sadly announce her passing. Viola joined her lifelong partner James, on Saturday, April 27th, 2002. Viola was born on the family farm at Dilke, SK on January 10, 1925 to Paul and Dorothy Duesing. In her teens, she met and married Jim Bennett of Chamberlain. The young couple worked several years for Jim's dad and eventually started up their own trucking company. Jim would be out hauling loads and Viola would be at home selling Massey Harris parts and keeping the books. Soon they were blessed with 3 children and added farming to their business plans. They also spent several years in Regina, where Viola worked as the receptionist for Deluxe Beauty Salons. They then returned to Chamberlain to operate Number 11 Confectionary for 3 years, after which Viola and Jim continued to farm and enjoyed a slower pace of life. Viola enjoyed her many friends and grandchildren, who especially helped fill the void after Jim's passing. Viola is predeceased by her parents Paul and Dorothy, her husband James and grandson Ryan. Her incredible strength and courage will be remembered by her sons and daughter Robert (Elaine), James (Brenda) and June (Randy Heise), her grandchildren Sherry (Richard Schropp), Carrie (Michael Kistner), Jeanine Heise (Steven Houle), Mark Heise (Joanne Pheleppou), Tyler and Brittany Bennett, great-grandchildren Tisha and Taylor Kistner, and her brother Lester (Audrey) Duesing, in-laws Cleve (Doris) Bennett, Bill (Hilda) Bennett and Opal Harris, several nephews and nieces, many close and cherished friends. Sharon Davis officiating. Interment in Chamberlain cemetery. BITZ - Wilhelmina (nee Unteriner). On Friday, January 4, 2002 Wilhelmina Bitz passed away at the age of 86 years. Wilhelmina was born in Sedley on November 11, 1915 to George and Katrina Unteriner and in 1916 moved to the Aylesbury district with her family. In 1940 she married Philip Bitz and they farmed in the Sunset District near Findlater until 1966 when they retired to Chamberlain and in 1992 to the Craik Health Centre. Wilhelmina was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will always be remembered for her patience, kindness and willingness to place the needs of others first. Wilhelmina is predeceased by her husband Philip; brother Anton; grandsons Shawn Skoropad and Randy Mangel. She will be lovingly remembered by two sons: Albert (Pearl) and Ed (Shirley); three daughters: Millie (Ron) Mangel, Elaine (Bob) Bennett and Glady (Andy) Skoropad; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sister: Edith (George) Zerr; four brothers: Aloysius, Andrew, John and Paul; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Lloyd (Ethel) Bitz; sister-in-law Kay Dignan. Arrangements entrusted to Parkview Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. BROWNE - Robert James. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Browne on March 1, 2009. Bob was born April 17, 1913 and was raised in the Findlater/Chamberlain area. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. In 1945 he married Thora Finlay and they had two children, Carmen in 1949 and Margaret in 1953. They moved to Regina in 1966, returning to Chamberlain in 1972. He was involved in many community activities and enjoyed time spent at their cabin at Lovering Lake. Later they moved to Moose Jaw, where Bob enjoyed many activities and socializing at both the Cosmos and Moose Jaw & District Seniors clubs. Bob loved sports and in his younger days in Chamberlain played hockey and baseball. Later in his life he spent many hours at sports days as well at Ross Wells Ball Park. He also had season tickets to the Moose Jaw Warriors for a number of years and enjoyed attending games here as well as on road trips with the Warriors booster club all over western Canada. Bob is predeceased by his parents, Jim and Laura Browne; brothers Ken and Claude; sisters Evelyn, Leila, Marguerite, Edith and Helen. He is survived by his wife Thora, son Carmen (Lynne), daughter Margaret (Walter), sister Dorothy Patterson, grandchildren Jennifer (Hart) Tejada, Jill (Troy) Fee, Logan Hjelte, James (Lana) Nation, great-grandchildren Jovie Tejada, Hayden and Emmett Fee, Grace and Lucas Nation, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorialization will take place at Regina Memorial Gardens at a later date. BURKE - Mary Ann (nee Diebel) of Kenaston, Sask. age 78 years passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 1, 2005. Mary is survived by her loving family: son Denis (Daphne) Burke, grandchildren: Dustin, Ginger & Rita Burke. Brothers & sisters: Lona Diebel, Rose Weigl, Lewis (Madeline) Diebel & Engelbert Diebel. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clifford Delbert Church. He passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2004 in his home surrounded with the love of his daughters and dedicated caregivers. Clifford was born on May 14, 1910 in Hinton, Iowa and was the youngest of six children born to his parents Mabel and Del Church. His mother returned to Canada after the tragic death of her husband and settled in the Aylesbury district with her family in June 1911. Mabel married Elmo Johnson in 1914. Cliff attended Watkins school in the Aylesbury district until 8th grade. His mother died when he was fourteen and being very lonely he spent a lot of time with his aunts and uncles. He worked in the Aylesbury district as a hired hand. In December 1933 he married Ida Leighton. Cliff worked at various jobs until 1952 when he returned to work for R.B. McLeod as Superintendent of water and sewer construction. He worked in many communities in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba in this capacity. Ill health forced Cliff to retire at age fifty-eight. Cliff and Ida moved into their daughter's yard at Buffalo Pound Lake where they spent many wonderful summers and wintered with Darlene at Parksville. This allowed them to have a close, loving relationship with their grandchildren. Cliff was predeceased by an infant son in 1942, his loving wife, Ida, in 1992, granddaughter, Tracey (Difley) Hoium in 1991 and a grandson, Birk Emes in 1991. After Ida passed away Cliff moved into Timothy Eaton Gardens where he thoroughly enjoyed living and where he remained until his passing. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his daughters: Mabel Difley of Moose Jaw and Darlene (Gerry) Emes of Qualicum Beach, B.C.; his grandchildren: Brent (Shari) Difley, Tara (Jeff) Leicht, Morgan (Christina) Emes, Dane (Angie) Emes, and Joel (Candace) Emes; his great-grandchildren: Jordan Hoium, Tyler and Bryce Difley, Cole and Madelynne Emes and Chloe and Meryn Emes. He is also survived by three half sisters, Ione (Johnson) Ward, Verna (Johnson) Clark, Vera (Johnson) Fiegehen, niece, Doris (Bruce) Winter and nephew, Bud Church. He is also survived by nieces: Pearl Zoerb, Stella Landers, Monetta Migadel, Vera Harrison, Norma Wakefield and nephew, Jesse Shields. We are very grateful for the tender, loving care provided by Donna and Fon during the past year and also to all the Home Care Staff for their kindness, care and concern over the years. On Friday, October 20, 2000, George Deitz, late of Weyburn, passed away at the Regina General Hospital, at the age of 70 years. Predeceased by his father, Kasper, and mother, Agatha Deitz; sisters: Barbara and Rose; brother, Anton J. Deitz; and by one son, Phillip G. Deitz. George is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Adeline, of Weyburn; son, Garth (Nadine) Deitz of Estevan; daughter, Brenda (William) Kraft of Saskatoon; daughter-in-law, Catherine Deitz of Saskatoon; grandson, Christopher of Estevan; granddaughters: Michelle of Saskatoon, and Kirsten and Kyla of Estevan; sister, Ann Beisick of Regina; brothers: Steve Deitz of Winnipeg, Leo and Phillip Deitz of Leduc; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. George was born in Chamberlain, SK. on October 8, 1930. He married Adeline Richards on June 17, 1950, and to their union three children were born. He worked for the CN Railway for 38 years, and they lived in many different communities. In 1969 they moved to Weyburn, where they have resided ever since. George was a member of the Elks for many years, having served as Exalted Ruler in 1979. He was active with the Canadian Diabetic Association since 1985. George enjoyed fishing, RVing and golfing. He loved his grandchildren and looking forward to spending time with them. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Funeral service was held Monday, October 23rd at 2:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Rev. John Ferrier officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. DIEBEL - Engelbert "Bud" Joseph passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the age of 79 years. Bud was the youngest of the "Diebel" clan. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Regina; brothers, Alexander, Andrew, Michael, John, Lewis and Gabriel; and sisters, Elizabeth, Fronica, Alonia, Mary, Rose and Madeline. He is survived by his three children Michaelene (Derrick) Renwick, Carrie (Darren) Wurmlinger and Derek Diebel, their Mom, Agnes; his grandchildren Drew, Matthew, Jami-Rae, Brady, Justin, Ryan and Kenton as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bud led a difficult life, but during his later years, he reconnected with his kids and thoroughly enjoyed watching grandsons Ryan and Kenton play hockey. DIEBEL - Lewis John, September 7, 1922- May 9, 2009. Lewis passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2009 surrounded by his family. Lew was born on the family farm near Chamberlain where his family homesteaded in 1914. In 1940 he joined the Canadian army by borrowing $5.00 and hitching a ride to Regina. He was sent overseas in 1941 where he served with the 65th Tank Transport and Reconnaissance Battalion. Upon his discharge from the army in 1946 he returned to the family farm. He met Madeliene Molter in 1951 and married the love of his life on June 14th, 1952. He worked in several occupations throughout his life but worked mainly in road construction, proudly building Saskatchewan's many highways. He retired in 1987 and was able to more actively indulge his many interests that included fishing, hockey, baseball, his dogs, whistling tunes and collecting. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandson, spending many precious hours with them. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Emil was born on the family homestead near Chamberlain, SK and raised in the Carman Silva District near Kayville, SK. Later while working in Lethbridge, Emil enlisted in the Canadian Army and then moved to the RCAF. In September of 1944, Emil met Mary and they married in August, 1945. Following his discharge from the RCAF, they settled first in Regina, where Emil took further mechanic training and then moved to Westbend, SK where he worked with his brother-in-law Dan Verklan, fixing cars and farm machinery at Dan's Garage. In 1949, the family returned to Regina and Emil began working at Saskatchewan Motors later moving to Firestone Stores where he worked until his retirement. Emil was a very active member of Sacred Heart and Christ the King Parishes. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus and a charter member of both Fr. Burns and Fr. Charles Gibney Councils. He loved travel, camping with family and friends, playing cards and cheering on his beloved Roughriders. He kept active during his retirement and lent his mechanic, handyman and carpentry skills to church, family and friends. It is with great sorrow that the family of Conrad Gottselig announce his passing. Conrad led a very full productive life. After serving in the army in World War II he settled with his wife, Gladys, to farm in the Chamberlain area. They moved into the town of Chamberlain in 1952. Conrad contributed in many ways to this growing community: he was the mayor of the village, chairman of the local Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, member/chairman on the board of directors of the Credit Union, member/president of St. Anne's Parish Council. He was instrumental in the building of the Chamberlain skating rink. He loved to play baseball and was an umpire at the Chamberlain Sports Days. He was also an avid curler. During the winters he opened the pool room for those who wanted to shoot a game, talk or get a hair cut. Conrad is predeceased by his wife Gladys. He will be deeply missed by his family. On Tuesday, May 18, 2010, Jean Hatton of Moose Jaw, Sask.,and formerly of Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask., passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years. Jean was born September 29, 1918 on the family farm her father homesteaded near Chamberlain in 1906. She attended Clarendon School nearby and later took her Nurse's Training at the Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw. She married Joe Hatton in Moose Jaw in March of 1947. They lived in Fort Qu'Appelle for many years where they both worked at Fort San until it closed. Over the years they pursued many interests together, including, building houses, raising mink, then honey bees and of course operating the Drive Inn and Movie Theater in Fort Qu'Appelle and other centers. When time permitted Jean enjoyed cooking, gardening and especially the flowers. Of course visiting family was always a priority. Jean was predeceased by her parents, John and Louisa Gunningham, husband, Joe Hatton, brothers, Roy and Donald Gunningham. She leaves to mourn sisters-inlaw, Edith Gunningham and Madeleine Gunningham both of Moose Jaw and nieces and nephews and their families. She was raised in the Aylesbury District and was schooled at Willow Bluff and Hallville Schools. In 1940 she married Arnold Heinen and together they farmed and raised six children, three sons and three daughters. She was predeceased by her mother Helen, September 9, 1949 and her father William Connelly, April 10, 1967, a sister Stella in 1915, and stepmother Lurane, September 7, 1966. Viola spent her earlier years in the Chamberlain and Tuxford areas, coming to Moose Jaw in January 1944 and was employed at the Harwood Hotel and Turner & Ellis Hardware Co. Ltd. from November 29, 1945 until January 10, 1953. She married James Hoyes, formerly of Eyebrow, SK, in 1952, who predeceased her January 6, 1972. Viola was employed at the Canadian Bible Society Store as a part time sales clerk from April 1973 until December 1979. She was a Red Cross Volunteer at the Blood Donor Clinics, and visited shut-ins at Pioneer's Lodge and was a Hospice Volunteer. She was a member of Mizpah Chapter #1 O.E.S., the Federal Superannuates Association and Friends of the Library. She enjoyed gardening, reading, letter writing, making scrapbooks, and collecting recipes. Viola is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Lyn is survived by her sister Anne Smith, brother Ron (Rosalie) Reynoldson, and sister Jessica (Ken) Fox as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her grandsons Ethan and Bentley. Lyn was born and raised in Chamberlain, Sask. the third child of John and Vi Reynoldson. Following high school, she entered hair dressing and lived in Calgary and Saskatoon. She married Ray Jones in 1980 and raised her three children on the farm near Dilke, Sask., then Saskatoon, Brooks, AB and eventually High River, AB. Always a mother and wife first, she gave selflessly and continually for the good of others and was always fun and full of life. Throughout her life, her love of family and friends and a personal spirituality gave her a strength that was evident in her struggle with cancer. Also surviving Mary are four brothers: Joseph (Ruth) Schroeder of Regina, Daniel (Elizabeth) Schroeder, John (Shirley) Schroeder and Fred (Beulah) Schroeder all of Chamberlain; a sister-in-law Cecilia Schroeder of Craik and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was born April 21, 1914 in Chamberlain where she grew up. She married Jack Klein in 1933 and they moved to Penzance. In 1942, they moved to Craik where they farmed and retired. Mary lived in Craik until 2003 when she moved to Extendicare in Moose Jaw. Special thanks to all those who cared for Mary during her stay in Extendicare. Also, special thanks to Elaine Spencer and Maureen Nielson who spent much time with Mary while she resided in the Manor in Craik. Burial will follow the Mass in Craik Cemetery. KLOCKOW - Orma Klockow, of Regina and formerly of Moose Jaw and the Chamberlain district, passed away January 23, 2003 at the age of 90 years. Orma was born at Markham, Ontario November 11, 1912 and came west with her family to the Sunset district in 1921. Orma taught school in various rural communities until her marriage to Alan Klockow on November 9, 1941. They resided on the Klockow farm south of Chamberlain until retiring to Moose Jaw in 1974. Orma was very active in the United Church at Chamberlain, as an Elder, teaching Sunday School and with the U.C.W. While in Moose Jaw, she and Alan enjoyed attending dances. Orma loved doing all kinds of crafts. Predeceased by her husband, Alan; son, Bob; and brother, Bruce, she is survived by sons, Garth (Maxine) and Keith (Heather) - all of Regina; daughter-in-law, Shirley - Calgary; grandchildren: Kevin (Angela) and Erin Klockow - Calgary; and Kimberly and Jaret Klockow - Regina; great-grandchildren: Julie and Jonathan - Calgary; sister-in-law, Sadie Storry - Moose Jaw; and numerous nieces and nephews. KOHLER - William Joseph "Bill", age 95 years, late of Regina, formerly of Chamberlain, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2005 with his family by his side. As well, he had a special gift for his hobby of woodworking and socializing with family and friends was always a highlight. Bill lived the majority of his life in Chamberlain but the remaining years lived in Regina at the Queen Victoria Estates and the Claddagh Manor. He leaves a legacy of special memories to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed. LAWBY - Dorothy (nee Keyes) Laughlan Lawby (June 23, 1915 - June 10, 2011). Dorothy Lawby, loving and beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2011, at Peace Portal Lodge in White Rock, B.C., just two weeks away from her 96th birthday. Dorothy was born in Regina, June 23, 1915, the youngest of nine children of Robert and Regina Keyes, who homesteaded on a farm near Chamberlain, Sask. A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Regina, Dorothy later married Stanley Colin Laughlan, a civil engineer from British Columbia working for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Their short but happy life together took them to Vancouver, British Columbia, Pasadena, California, and back to Regina where her husband died in 1953. Dorothy remained in Regina, raising their three children, Wendy, Colin, and Sheila, while working for the Prudential Insurance Company where she was office supervisor for twenty years before her promotion to Western Canada Office Supervisor. Dorothy chose instead to begin a different direction. In the Spring of 1965, she married prominent Regina business executive Ernest Lawby of the Guaranty Trust Company, whom she met and fell in love with during their work together on the Board of Directors of St. Michael's Retreat House at Lumsden, Sask. The happy couple retired within the next year and spent the next decade entertaining friends and family visiting their new home at Peachland in the Okanagan Valley until Ernest's death in 1975. Dorothy then returned to Regina where she enjoyed the company of many friends and relatives until moving to White Rock in 2005 to be near her family and spend time with her adored great grandchildren.Throughout her long life Dorothy was a source of strength and confidence to her family spanning three generations; children: Wendy Clark, Sheila (Rod) Booth; Colin Laughlan, step-son Don (Denise) Lawby; grandchildren: Kelley (Chris) Parlier, Kristen (Gary Grant) Clark; Jeff (Kelly) Booth, Dan Booth; Meghan Lawby; great grandchildren: Ocea, Sierra, Henry Grant; Kennedy, James, Hudson Booth; Clark Parlier; and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her eight brothers and sisters, grandson Jamie Booth, and step-son Laurence Lawby. A memorial mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Delta, BC, on June 16, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. Dorothy's ashes will be interred in the Regina Cemetery and a second memorial mass is hoped to held in Regina on a date to be set in the coming weeks. LOWE - Mary (nee Reynoldson). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lowe, age 83 on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Mary was born in Chamberlain, Sask. in 1931. It was there Mary met Abby and they were later married in Moose Jaw on May 26, 1951. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Abby on July 28, 2014. He is waiting for her at the gates to welcome her home. She is also predeceased by her sister, Alice Reynoldson, and her grandson, Jonathan Eduard Wouters. Mary is survived by her 3 children, Maral (Donna Lee), Howard (Terry), and Karren (Darrel) as well as her sister, Marie and her brother, Brian (Cricket). She was grandmother to Mitch (Jen), Sarah (Justin), Nathen, Jeremy, Roxanne and Jennifer. She was great-grandmother to Jacob, Addison, Elijah and Makena. Mary was a Master Bowler and a Tawny Owl for Brownies. She liked to play cards with family and friends, especially crib. She loved camping with her husband and travelling across Canada and the USA. She liked to travel to places like Mexico, Vegas and Hawaii with her sister, Marie and friends. She especially loved spending summers at their cabin at Mistusinne on Lake Diefenbaker. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren. On numerous occasions she would take her oldest 5 grandchildren to the lake with her. Over the years, Mary had a variety of jobs from cake decorating to selling jewelry. She was at Sears for 17 years before she retired. Mary had Alzheimers for many years. The family wishes to thank the staff at Luther Special Care Home for the quality care and attention they gave her during her stay. We will miss our mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As per Mary's wishes there will be no funeral. MacLENNAN - Katherine Mary Anne (nee Heck), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and aunt, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2002. Katherine was predeceased by her husband Richard (Mac) in 1994; brothers: Frank Heck, Tom Heck and Tony (Agatha) Heck; and sister Sally (George) Gelsinger. MAERZ - Barbara (nee Hill) was born October 1st, 1932 at Haslingden, Lancashire, England. At the age of two she emigrated with her parents to Canada. They lived on the farm in Little Arm Valley just east of Chamberlain. After completing her secondary schooling, Barbara graduated from Psychiatric Nursing in Selkirk, Manitoba. In 1954, she married Wilfred Maerz of Holdfast at the Anglican Church in Selkirk. Barbara and Wilfred spent the next twenty-nine years on the family farm raising cattle, crops and ultimately three sons. In 1983, Barbara and Wilfred moved from the farm to the town of Holdfast. Mom's love of gardening, photography, Royal Watching and the occasional visit to the casino kept her busy through these years. Just as a new chapter in their life was about to begin, Barbara suffered a stroke on April 3rd. After spending two months in the hospital, Barbara passed away peacefully on June 14, 2010. Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Martha Hill. She is survived by her husband Wilfred and sons: Trevor (Shirley), Mayson (Linda), and Sheldon (Deena). She is also remembered by her grandchildren: Rhonda (Chad) , Wesley (Diana), Jesse, Erin, Brett, William and Rachel as well as her great-grandchildren Owen, Claire, Samantha and Elizabeth. On Sunday, October 15, 2000, Vernon Gordon Nickel, late of Chamberlain, Sask., passed away at the age of 67 years. He was born on April 25, 1933 to Cornelius and Margaret (Boese) Nickel, received his education at Drake School and attended North Star Mennonite Church in that community. After Grade 12, Vern worked in Ontario with a fruit cannery. Upon returning to Saskatchewan, he worked for the C.P.R., Eaton's and then with his father for one year at the Drake Credit Union in Drake, SK. From there, Vern was promoted to manager of the Choiceland Credit Union and then in April 1965, he continued in management at the Chamberlain Credit Union where he worked for almost 26 years, retiring due to poor health. On April 19, 1973, Vern married Geraldine Shatkowski, who worked alongside him. They had 271/2 wonderful years of marriage. Vern and Geri spent many happy times travelling in Canada and abroad. He was a very active member of his community. Vern was a dedicated husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, son-in-law and friend. Vern was predeceased by his parents, brother Arnold in infancy, mother-in-law Tillie Shatkowski and sister Dianne Waters. With his family at his side, Archie 'Bud' Reed passed away peacefully at Regina Pasqua Hospital on May 10, 2013 at the age of 83 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Sophie in September 2012, who he missed dearly after spending 60 happy years together with her. Born in Chamberlain, SK, Archie became a road builder and spent his career with the provincial highways department. His early postings included carving roads out of bush in northern Saskatchewan. He then took on a position in Odessa, where he and Sophie raised their four children. Archie was a hardworking family man who enjoyed socializing with friends, and he and Sophie travelled many miles to attend polka dances. He also loved a good joke, playing cards and tinkering in his tool shop. After his retirement, he and Sophie drove south to Arizona each winter and made many new friends. REYNOLDSON - Mary Violet "Vi" (nee Thomas) passed away at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on March 22, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Vi was born in South Wales, United Kingdom on January 8, 1920 the second of four daughters to John and Elizabeth Thomas. In her early twenties she began a nursing career in Cardiff and London. It was during WW ll that she met the love of her life, John, they married and began a great adventure. She arrived at Halifax harbour in 1946 along with many other war brides and their children, and then travelled to Chamberlain where Vi and John had a wonderful life together farming and ranching. Mom was a loving, caring, and generous woman, devoted to her children and their families. She was always welcoming, comforting and forgiving to all, she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and hearing of all their pursuits and endeavors. Mom was witty, humorous and a joy to be around. She enjoyed knitting, reading, family gatherings, and discussing current affairs. When she resided in Saskatoon, the War Brides Association was a highlight of her life providing many treasured friendships. Vi was predeceased by her loving husband John (Smokey); her parents, sisters Betty and Dilys as well as great-grandchildren Abigail and Yannick, and in-laws Ron and Del , Lorne McRae and Lorno. In 2006, they moved to an apartment in Moose Jaw, where many would see Dad taking part in activities in the Timothy Eaton Senior Centre or meeting with friends over a coffee at the Moose Jaw Town and Country Mall. He received his education at Prairie Island School. John was an active member of his community, he belonged to the Knights of Columbus, served on the Church Board, and was a Councilor of the RM of Dufferin. John also served on the Board of the Chamberlain Credit Union. For the past four years John has made his home in Moose Jaw. He was predeceased by his brothers, Leo and Joseph, his brothers-in-law, Geo Mengel, Hector Paquette, Tony Benko and Philip Metz. It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Schneider announces his peaceful passing at Leduc General Hospital on November 30, 2013 at the age of 92. Ed was born November 1, 1921 in Chamberlain, SK and was predeceased by his wife, Dawn. Ed is survived and will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren: Heath and Laurie (Tessa and Zackary) of Spruce Grove, AB; Beth and Daryle (Blaine and Danae) of Devon, AB; Evan and Michelle (Grace and Aryn) of Leduc, AB; Earl and Kathy of Leduc, AB; and Derek and Tanya (Korre and Autumn) of Devon, AB. He is also survived by two sisters Carrie (Ron) Treitz of Penticton, BC and Margie Read of Moose Jaw, SK, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be held for Ed at the Devon Golf & Country Club, 1130 River Valley, Devon, AB, on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. An interment service for both Ed and Dawn will take place in Findlater, SK in July, 2014. SCHROEDER - Daniel Alphonso. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel "Dan" Alphonso Schroeder on Sunday, September 25, 2011, at the age of 89 years. Dan was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Liz), father John and mother Mary Maier, sisters Mary Klein and Anastasia (Daisy) Massine, and brothers Aloysius (Alois) and Frederick (Fred). Left to mourn his loss are brothers Joseph (Ruth) and John (Shirley) of Regina, daughter Gail (Terry) Armitage of Calgary, sons Darrell (Kaylynn) of Grasswood, and Darrin of Calgary, sisters and brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dan was born July 28, 1922 in the Chamberlain area and attended Vancise School, approximately 1.5 miles from the homestead. He worked on the family farm and married Liz in 1953. In 1955, he and his brother Fred purchased the International Harvester dealership from their brother Joe. Included with the deal were B.A. Gas & Oil, McCormick farm equipment and a hardware store. They grew the business over the years and enjoyed many trips as rewards for their hard work. Dan was active in the community, being a member of the Knights of Columbus, B.P.O. Elks and other sports and recreation groups. An avid curler, Dan was on a rink with brother Fred and Ron and John Reynoldson that scored a perfect 8-ender in 1959. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, making sausage, restoring farm machinery, and fixing just about anything that can break. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave, Regina. Interment to follow in Chamberlain cemetery. SCHROEDER - Elizabeth "Liz" passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. Born February 25, 1934 in the Rock Village School District; Liz worked a variety of different jobs in and around Chamberlain, Sask, where she knew and was known by many. She had many interests: the family farm and business; curling; gardening; and most importantly, her family. Liz was predeceased by her parents, Ben and Elizabeth; brother Wilfred and twin sisters in infancy. Left to cherish her memory are: her loving husband Dan; daughter Gail (Terry); sons, Darrell (Kaylynn) and Darrin; brothers, George and Mike; sisters, Margaret and Phyllis; extended family; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of Frederick Schroeder announces his passing on Tuesday, May 31st, 2011 at the age of 82. Fred will be remembered by his wife of 60 years, Beulah and his children, Joanne (Rod) Van Slyck, Terry, Wendy (Calvin) Ackerman and Fred. He will also be remembered by the grandchildren, Judd (Karen) Van Slyck, Kristy Van Slyck, Shawn Ackerman and Chantal Ackerman; by his three brothers, Joseph (Ruth), Dan (Liz) and John (Shirley). He was predeceased by his brother, Alois and sisters, Daisy and Mary. Fred was born to John and Mary Schroeder at the farm north east of Chamberlain on January 21st, 1929, the youngest of 7 children. He attended Vancise country school and high school in Holdfast, SK. After school he worked in Regina at Sears and the Wheat Pool. In 1951 he married Beulah Stark and they began farming in the Chamberlain district on the Schroeder homestead. On January 1st, 1955, he and his brother Dan purchased Schroeder Bros Implement dealership from his brother Joe and ran the business and farmed for 60 years. Early in life he was an avid curler, winning an eight end pin during the 60's. He enjoyed travelling and went on many company sponsored trips worldwide. Fred loved fishing and made many trips to Northern Sask with his son-inlaw, grandson and sons. He volunteered and served on several boards in the Chamberlain area and was one of the founding members of the Chamberlain Credit Union. Fred enjoyed watching sports, especially football and curling, and was willing and knowledgeable to discuss sports or politics at anytime. Fred was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. A private graveside service will be held for the family. A Time of Fellowship will be held on Friday, June 3rd, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with a tribute to take place at 2:30 p.m. SCHROEDER - John Anthony, at the age of 87, died peacefully at his home in Regina on May 12, 2012. He was predeceased by this parents John and Mary Schroeder, sisters Daisy Massine (Mike) and Mary Kline (Jack), and brothers Aloise, Dan (Elizabeth) and Fred. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 58 years, children Gary, Maureen and Glen, grandchildren Mitch and Brody, and brother Joe (Ruth), sisters-in-law Cecilia Schroeder and Beulah Schroeder and many nieces and nephews. John was born in Holdfast on December 17, 1924. He attended Vancise School. John spent his whole life farming, which was his passion, in the Chamberlain/Craik area. The celebration of John's life will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Holy Cross Church at 315 Douglas Avenue East, Regina, SK at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Nguyen officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Chamberlain cemetery. SCHROEDER - Shirley Isabel (nee Sanders). On Sunday, May 17, 2015 Shirley Schroeder formerly of Chamberlain and most recently from College Park, Regina, passed away at the age of 83 years. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband John; her parents Frank and Nell Sanders; brothers Kenneth and Vern and her sisters Jean and Marjorie. She leaves to cherish her memory sons Gary and Glen; daughter Maureen Nielson; grandsons Mitchell and Brody Nielson; sisters-in-law Ruth Beulah and Cecilia Schroeder; brothers Don (Gladys) and Bill (Marj) Sanders; sister Bev (Bob) Scammell as well as many nieces and nephews. Following her schooling in Moose Jaw, Shirley taught in various schools across the province. She will be remembered for the "Chamberlain Crossroads" history book, sewing, needlework, gardening, reading and many other hobbies. Funeral Mass will be at Holy Cross R.C. SCOTT - Grace (nee Prentice) Difley Scott passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2000 at Providence Place, Moose Jaw. Grace's parents homesteaded in the Chamberlain district in 1906. She was born in Montreal while her mother was visiting family. The family moved to Crestwynd in 1928 where Grace attended school. They had the telephone office situated in their home and Grace became a telephone operator. After she married Bo Difley, she spent most of her time assisting with the operation of their service station at Buffalo Pound Lake. The couple moved to Moose Jaw in 1957. Grace worked for Home Care for a few years. She also enjoyed ceramics, knitting and crocheting. Grace moved to Montana for a short period of time in the early 1960's but returned to Moose Jaw where she has since resided. Grace has been a resident of Providence Place since 1995. Predeceased by her parents, John and Marguerite Prentice, first husband, Bo Difley, second husband, George Scott, son, Gordon Difley, granddaughter, Tracy Hoium; six brothers: Robert, John, Louis, Roy, Neil and Bruce; seven sisters: Catherine, Hannah, Janet, Ruth, Edith, Ivy and Marguerite. Grace is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mabel; grandchildren: Brent (Shari) of Calgary, Tara (Jeff) of Farnsworth, Texas; three great-grandchildren: Jordan Hoium of Saskatoon, Tyler and Bryce Difley of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. On Saturday, November 10, 2007, Percival Lloyd Smith UE of Sunset Extendicare, formerly of Dilke, SK, passed away at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK at the age of 89 years after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his father Samuel Elmer; mother Laura Adell Hinchy; six brothers Russell, Don, Cecil, Julian, Hollis Benjamin (in infancy) and Lawrence; two sisters Marjory and Alma; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. Lloyd is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Mae; his son Harvey; daughter Shirley (Ron) McNab and their children Malissa, Natosha (RJ) Rejein, Fabian and Ashley; great grandchildren Cody, Taylor and Jayda; daughter Leona (Dan) Hungle and their daughters Dana and Shelly; great grandson Jonathon; sister-inlaw Katie Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was born on the farm near Dilke, SK on September 2, 1918. He took his schooling at Wilkie Bay School, 2 1/2 miles east and south of the farm, after he thought his schooling was enough he worked around the communities and also did commercial fishing on Long Lake. In 1941, he enlisted in the army and was enlisted in the 8th RECCE, 14th Canadian Hussars from Swift Current, he trained at Dundurn and went overseas to England and trained more until they needed him. He saw action at Caan and Falaise, France, it was along the road to Falaise that he was wounded; his army stay was short lived. He was discharged in February of 1945. On October 11, 1945, he married Mae Anderson of Scotsguard, SK and together they raised three children at Chamberlain. He farmed on a quarter section of land, known as Bill Conley farm and worked along with his brother Don. In 1952, he sold the quarter of land and bought a new 1952 Chevrolet car and moved to his fathers farm near Dilke, SK. He farmed in the Dilke District until 1979 and sold three quarters to the Art Jones family who's farm joined alongside. The quarters north of Dilke went to Leonard Bast and the NE 26 went to Brian Smith and the Homestead of the century family farm award of this year went to Mervin Smith, his two nephews. Dad was also active in the community serving on various boards, Hall Board, Curling Club, Legion, Sask Wheat Pool, Community Pasture Association and the Co-op. He was also the president of the Saskatchewan Horseshoe Association; he was a great curler and horseshoe pitcher. They spent many years prospering in the taxicab business where they made many life-long friends. In his spare time, Ray excelled at 10-pin bowling and was passionate about his sports, traveling south, fishing, hunting and gardening at Regina Beach. He had a very full life enjoying many activities with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lawrence was born at Chamberlain on October 21, 1925 and moved with his parents to the Findlater district in 1931. He farmed for 30 years in the Sunset district, then moved into Findlater before later moving to Moose Jaw. Lawrence was a 62 year member of the Legion, and a 32 year member of the Elks Lodge #7. He was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Eva, brother Jack, and sisters Mary Gladys and Isabelle Ackerman. He is survived by his brother Norm (Gladys), sister Jessie (Ivan) Hove, brother-in-law Ralph Ackerman; and many nieces and nephews. STEWART - Norman Earl Stewart passed away on July 11, 2008 at the age of 81 with his loving family at his side after a courageous battle with various health problems. Norman was born on May 1, 1927 in the Chamberlain District. He was the youngest son of Charles and Eva Stewart. He moved to the Sunset District in 1931 and attended Sunset School until Grade 9 when he quit school to tend to the Family farm while his brothers went to war. He has farmed for the past 66 years in the Sunset District and continued to be active in the farming operation up till the spring of this year. Norm was involved as a councilor for the R.M. of Dufferin for 13 years. He was an avid curler in his younger years and attended many a bonspiel. He later turned his attention to the Riders, golf, camping, holidays and socializing with his friends. He was a life member of the Moose Jaw Elks Lodge # 7 as well as a member of the Moose Jaw Legion and Army and Navy Vets. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Eva Stewart, brothers Jack and Lawrence and sisters Gladys and Belle. He is survived by loving wife and companion of 53 years, Gladys and their sons, Cal (Brenda) of Moose Jaw and their sons Tyler and Andrew, Darryl, on the farm, Greg (Cathy) and their children Ann-Marie and Paul, sister Jessie (Ivan) Hove of Regina, brother-in-law Ralph Ackerman of Moose Jaw and numerous nieces and nephews. Verna, late of Regina, SK dearly beloved wife of Charles Stewart, passed away peacefully in Regina General Hospital on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the age of 96 years. She was predeceased by infant son Keith Douglas Stewart; parents, John J. and Bertha Norman; siblings, Eunice (Roy) Nordstrom, Sybil (Dudley) Collins, Leona (John) Hickson, Annetta (Rupert) Pottruff, Irvin (Mabel) Norman, Beverley (Loretta) Norman, Murdoch Norman and Milton Norman; grandson-in-law Martin Bouchard. Verna is survived by her husband of 72 years, Charles Stewart; son Lyle (Linda) Stewart of Pense; daughter Cheryl (Neil) Perry of Calgary; grandchildren, Stephanie (Gabe) Batstone, Krista Bouchard (Kevin), Alison (Sean) Sargent and Lee (Jessica) Stewart; great-grandchildren, Julianna, Stewart, Teagan, Natalie, Josie, Jack and Liberty; sister-in-law Margaret Norman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She and Charlie were married in 1941 and farmed in the Chamberlain district until 1945 when they began farming in the Pense district, where they raised their family. They retired to Regina in 1978, where they lived independently until Verna's passing. They were an inseparable team with Verna active in farm, family and community activities. SWEDBERG - Walter Sigurd, born August 7th, 1912 on a Saskatchewan farmstead near Chamberlain, passed away peacefully at Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK on December 1st, 2003. Walter is survived by his wife and lifetime companion of 63 years, Flora; daughters Vada Hendrickson, Joanne (Tony) Babalola; sons Ivan (Lee) Swedberg, Chet Swedberg; and grandchildren in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. Walter taught school at Banbury and High School at Springside from 1931 1942. He returned to farming the family farmstead from 1942 1957. Walter was passionately interested in conservation and built and developed the "Swedberg Tree Planter". He planted some 200,000 trees on the family farmstead and the tree planter has been used to plant many hundreds of treed shelter belts across Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta and Montana. The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Village for their kindness during Dad's stay and the Doctors and nursing staff at the Pasqua Hospital for making him comfortable during his last few days. TUPLIN - Dorothy May (nee Hannah) passed away peacefully at Providence Place in Moose Jaw, Sask. on April 28th, 2012 and went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Dorothy, known affectionately by many as "Dot", was born September 16th, 1926 in Tuxford hospital and was raised on a farm north of Marquis. She attended Westlake School and then graduated from Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw. She trained as a Lab Technician at Providence Hospital and worked in Regina, Chilliwack and Moose Jaw. She married the love of her life, Lloyd, on December 22nd, 1950 and they resided on their farm which was situated 10 miles east of Moose Jaw. Dorothy is survived by her children: Scott (Joyce) of Pilot Butte, Margo Melby (Mark) of Regina, Joan Klotz (Fred) of Naples, Florida, Dale (Carol) of Moose Jaw, Merle Tuplin of Regina, and Glen (Donna-Joy) of Medicine Hat, AB and her many precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Leone (Lee) Langner of Ottawa, ON; as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lloyd, only 6 months ago; she was also predeceased by her parents, Allan and Mary Hannah; her sisters: Margaret, Gladys, and Clara; her brothers: Lloyd and Harold (killed in World War II), Lowell and Cecil. Dorothy wrote a few thoughts about things that meant the most to her: "I have always loved the prairies with the beautiful sunsets, and deep blue skies. The simplicity of farm life (as it used to be) was a special pleasure in spite of all the work. My salvation as a very young girl, and the gradual and continuing growth in the love of the Lord is miraculous for a sinner such as I. I love the beautiful hymns of the church, the worship services, and study of God's Word. Fellowship with God's people is so special. The love of family members is tremendous! The grandchildren are a great joy! I have very special memories of my own childhood as well as of the childhood of each of our six children. TUPLIN - Thomas Lloyd Tuplin passed away peacefully at Providence Place in Moose Jaw on October 29th, 2011 and went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Lloyd was born November 30th, 1918 in Chamberlain, SK where he attended the community school; he received most of his high school education in Moose Jaw. During his early years he worked with his father on the farm and later bought a farm of his own situated ten miles east of Moose Jaw. He married his long time sweetheart, Dorothy Hannah, on December 22nd, 1950. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, "Dot "; his children Scott (Joyce) of Pilot Butte, Margo Melby (Mark) of Regina, Joan Klotz (Fred) of Naples, FL, Dale (Carol) of Moose Jaw, Merle Tuplin of Regina, and Glen (DonnaJoy) of Medicine Hat; grandchildren Theresa Gillis (Mike), Duane Melby (Heidi Walbaum), Matt Melby, Zac Klotz (Chelsea), April Staffieri (Ryan), Kristen Klotz, Kodi Klotz, Tyler Mills, Kari Ferozedin (Timothy), Jordan Mills (Raelynne), Jade Tuplin, and Jared Tuplin; great-grandchildren Deklan Gillis, Brooklyn McCammon, Danika Klotz, Natalia, Brayden and Jude Staffieri, and Treyton Ferozedin, as well as step grandchildren Tracy Martell (Rocky) and Travis Brown (Michelle) and step great-grandchildren Dayton Martell and Malia Brown. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Mildred Tuplin; his brother-in-law Gordon Grogan; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, William and Charlotte Tuplin; his sister, Ruby Grogan; and brothers Manly (in childbirth), John and Gordon Tuplin. In retirement Lloyd and Dorothy enjoyed travelling and working as volunteers in warmer climates. Lloyd loved extended family gatherings; he particularly loved his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his gentle manner, his devotion to Dot, his affection for his family, his love for God, and his willingness to help anyone in need. Irene passed from this world as she lived, with dignity, surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born November 7, 1918 in Chamberlain, SK. She met and married her husband and soul mate Willard; they lived lovingly together for 51 years in Saskatoon until his passing. Irene demonstrated her determination and resolute nature in the last 15 years of her life moving to Cochrane, AB and developing a new group of friends and enjoying spending time with her family. Irene's value in the world was measured by the quality of the relationships that she had with her family and friends. She drew people to her through her loving, caring attitude and incredibly warm heart. She maintained those relationships with her humor, and wit, spreading love to all those she came in contact with. Irene is survived by her daughter, Carole (Al) Vallet; son, Dale (Sandra) Varty and son, Barry (Darlene) Hibbert. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Wayne Beros in 1980, grandson Gregory Beros in 2010 as well as five sisters and six brothers. Rose is survived by her children Linda Weigl, Frankie (Donna) Weigl, Marianne Hoffart, Michael (Dena) Weigl and Debra Beros (Reed Perkins); grandchildren Warren Rylands, Gabriel (Fiona) Hoffart, Rebecca (Dan) Kelly, Damon Weigl, Alexi Weigl and Anthony Weigl; great-grandchildren Logan, Nicholas and Tristan Hoffart and brother Engelbert Diebel along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. YATES - Frederick Thomas passed away at the Pasqua Hospital on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at the age of 89. The eldest son of Fred and Edith Yates, Fred was born at Chamberlain, Sk. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Vera in 2001, and his brother Frank in 1947. Fred is survived by his brothers and sisters: Thomas (Mary), Beatrice Dufresne, Marjorie (Louis) Carles, Netttie Young, Harry (Shirley) and Edwin; sisters-in law: Rose (Steve) Burkowski and Emilie Hozempa as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Fred was working in Prince Albert when he joined the army; after his discharge he worked for the City of Regina until his retirement. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 E. on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery. ZENTNER - Lindon John Zentner of Chamberlain, Sask. age 53 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2006 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, Moose Jaw, Sask. Lindon is survived by his loving family: mother Mary Zentner; sons Herman Zentner & Howard Zentner; uncle Barney Ackerman, also cousins & other family members.
