Mrs. Adeline White's book "The Horton's in America" states that Jeremy settled in Nova Scotia. Jeremy was married to a Countess Karsan from Spain.

Query: My great-grandparents are James H. and Elizabeth Foley. According to the 1880 US Census for New York, James H. Foley, 42 years old in 1880, a ship carpenter, reported his birthplace as Nova Scotia (locality not given). Elizabeth Foley, 24 years old in 1880, a housewife, also reported her birthplace as Nova Scotia (locality not given). Both James and Elizabeth report that their parents were Nova Scotia natives. The census records show two children, Agnes, 6, and Everett, 2. Both are shown as being born in Nova Scotia. Thus, they may have emigrated from Nova Scotia in 1878 or 1879. (The 1880 US Census was as of April 1, 1880.) My grandmother, Margaret Foley Donohue, was born in 1882. While her death certificate lists her birthplace as New York, my mother told me that her grandmother (Elizabeth Foley) had returned to Nova Scotia to visit her family. Due to bad weather preventing a return journey to New York, she gave birth to Margaret in Nova Scotia.
Also listed as living with the Foley family in the 1880 Census was one Willian Thompson, a ship carpenter and a Nova Scotia native (parents also born in Nova Scotia). I do not know if there was a family relationship.
