Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Winnifred A. (Hubley) Finck. She was a warm and vibrant woman who had a lifelong appreciation of art and music, a deep devotion to her family and a steadfast faith in God. She was a talented and creative artist, who both studied and taught art, her works having been exhibited in various venues throughout the years. Her love of music was one of the many gifts she bestowed to her children. She was an accomplished pianist, having taught as well. She enjoyed choral singing and was a former member of several choirs, including the Citadel Chimes and the Chebucto Community Singers. She was well known in the fashion and cosmetics industry, where she worked for many years. She was also an entrepreneur, who operated her own art gallery in Dartmouth and, as an artist, was commissioned for various works. More recently, she was a home companion to the elderly, where her dedication and compassion enriched the lives of those in her care. Born in Mahone Bay on June 20, 1904, he was a son of the late Edward Albert and Georgina (Kedy) Ernst. He began his career with the Bank of Montreal in the Maritimes, was posted to the bank's New York agency for 11 years and in 1942, was transferred to head office in Montreal. After 47 years of service, he retired from the bank as executive vice-president, international banking. He then joined the First Wisconsin National Bank of Milwaukee as senior vice-president and manager of their branch in London, England, which he established and managed for two years. He then returned to Mahone Bay. During his career, he travelled extensively to most parts of the world. In 1962, he led a Canadian Government Trade Mission to Israel and was subsequently elected president of the Canada Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, retiring after four years as a lifetime honorary governor of that organization. He was an officer of a number of trade-related organizations, including Canadian Exporters Association, Canadian section of International Chamber of Commerce and the Italian Chamber of Commerce; was a founding director of the Bank of London and Montreal, which was headquartered in Nassau. He was educated at Queens University; was a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Banking and completed post graduate studies in international banking and foreign exchange at New York University School of Business Administration. He was actively involved in community organizations during his career and after retirement. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a former part-time employee for many years of Mahone Funeral and Ambulance Service, and a former employee of Mahone Bay Laundromat. He was currently employed as a custodian at the Bank of Montreal, Mahone Bay. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his companion, Mable Barrett, Blockhouse; Michael Hatcher, Mahone Bay, whom he helped raise since infancy. He was predeceased by brothers, Harry, Arnold, Napier, Robert.
