He was the son of the late William George and Margaret (Jackson) Boutilier. He was a resident of Centre Rawdon, formerly of Spryfield. He worked at Mount Saint Vincent, Mother house as a plumber for six years. He was a member of Spryfield Legion Branch 152 for many years. He was an avid dart player for years. He was predeceased by brothers, Thomas, Harold Boutilier; sister, Marguerite Oakley. Saturday, July 1, 2000 The Halifax Herald Limited EISENHAUER, Florence Laura EISENHAUER, Florence Laura - 94, Lunenburg, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in the Fisherman's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late John Albert and Stella (Rafuse) Lohnes. In her earlier years, she was a correspondent for the Bridgewater Bulletin and later worked at Burn's Ice Cream Parlour for many years. She also was a registrar for marriage licenses for the Province of Nova Scotia. She was a former member of St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg, leader of the Boys Chorus and was a former president of the Ladies Aid. Florence later transferred her membership to Central United Church, Lunenburg and was choir director for many years and a member of the Mary Gormley Unit of the UCW. She was leader of the Lunenburg Academy High School Chorus and a member of the Lunenburg Glee Club. Florence was a founding member of the Fisherman's Memorial Hospital, Ladies Auxiliary, Lunenburg. She was a member of the Bluenose Senior Citizens Club and the Women's Institute. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Patricia Rhuland, Dean's Corner; Catherine Demone, Lunenburg; Roy Lohnes, Western Shore; Ruth Naas, Bridgewater; George Cooper, Lunenburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles R. Eisenhauer; brother, Douglas (Carter) Lohnes. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Born in Riverport, he was a son of the late Roland and Mary (Richards) Ritcey. He served during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23, Lunenburg. He started his sea-going career with fishing and later was employed as second class engineer on gypsum boats, then with the Bedford Institute of Technology as second class engineer on the Hudson and Baffin. Prior to his retirement, he operated the LaHave Ferry. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret "Peggy" MacDonald; daughters, Anne Louise Ritcey-Conrad and husband David, Riverport; Rosalie Sarty and husband Joseph, Hebbville; son, Elliott, Riverport; grandchildren, Matthew and Lindsey Sarty, Hebbville; Christopher and Tyler Ritcey-Conrad, Elliott Ritcey, all of Riverport. Monday, July 3, 2000 The Halifax Herald Limited REDDEN, Ronald Erwin REDDEN, Ronald Erwin - 67, 788 Main St., Mahone Bay, passed away on July 2, 2000, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Timmins, Ont., he was a son of the late William and Susan (Reid) Redden. He began his career in the dockyards in Halifax, where he became a shipwright and then moved to Ottawa, where he was employed with Leigh Instruments. Returning to Nova Scotia, he was employed with Atlantic Bridge Company in Mahone Bay. He was also a former member of Big Brothers in Mahone Bay. After leaving Atlantic Bridge Company, he began a second career as a wood sculptor, concentrating on creating miniature portraits of whales in mahogany. Ron had received international recognition when in 1992, at the prestigious Mystic Annual International Art Exhibition, with 5, 000 marine artists applying and only 100 accepted, he received one of the 10 coveted Awards of Excellence. He is survived by his wife, the former Mabel Chaplin, Mahone Bay; daughters, Linda (David) Hallahan, Gondola Point, N.B.; Susan (Karl) Nauss, Mahone Bay; sons, Peter (Mary), Conquerall Bank; Larry (Judy), Ingramport; grandchildren, Leah, Sandra, Angela, Patrick, Krista, Melanie, Cheryl, Richard and Michael; brothers, Michael (Barbara), Middle Stewiacke; Bill (Lydia), Upper Stewiacke. Gus was the youngest son of Charles and Lahlia (Zwicker) Keddy. He worked for 34 years as a fire fighter with the Dartmouth Fire Department and then retired to the Valley where he enjoyed golfing, hunting and going to the Legion with his many friends. Gus was predeceased by his first wife, Beverley (Davis) Keddy; and companion, Neta Middleton; also four brothers and two sisters. Gus will be sadly missed by his present wife, Maureen (MacDougall) DeCoste; and his sons, George W. Keddy, Dartmouth; John H. Keddy, Dartmouth; Michael E. He was a veteran of the American Armed Forces and had tours of duty in Germany and France. Friday, July 7, 2000 The Halifax Herald Limited SAWLER, Owen Nathan SAWLER, Owen Nathan - 94, Dartmouth, passed away July 6, 2000, at his home. Born October 17, 1905, he was a son of the late Percy and Jean (Ogilvie) Sawler. Owen retired from the Defense Research Establishment Atlantic in 1965. For the next 10 years, he worked training horses at The Eric Whebby Stables. He was an avid sportsman his entire life, having set many records in walking and rowing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing from his camp of Lake Charlotte. He was the president of North Star Rowing Club and remained active as a coach until his death. Among many honours bestowed upon him; Induction into The Sports Hall of Fame, The Dalhousie University Sports Award for his dedication to sport in Nova Scotia, Citizen of the Year Award in the former City of Dartmouth and the Rowing Canada Award of Merit. Anna lived a full life; she graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University and went on to work in the clerical staff for the provincial government for 41 years. Anna was a cheerful, kind woman, interested in people and the world around her, and was graced with the rare ability to listen. Her sense of humour and smile brightened this world, Anna will be missed by many. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim and sister, Dorothy Bishop-Moll. She is survived by her nephew, Peter Moll; her stepdaughter, Patricia Hubley and many relatives and friends. He moved from Sherwood in 1935 to a small farm on Dill Road and later to Currys Corner. He worked as a rural mail driver, then with the Department of Lands and Forests, delighting many audiences, especially school children, for many years with forest conservation films and movies. He was also active in the Government Employees Association. His part-time work with Lohnes Funeral Service during his retirement years is very much appreciated. Lawrence was a very involved member and deacon of the Windsor United Baptist Church and he was active in organizing summer services at the Sherwood Church. He was a former member of the Currys Corner Fire Department. He was Past Noble Grand of Pesaquid Lodge 38, Past District Deputy Grand Master of District 8, Past Chief Patriarch and Past District Deputy Grand Patriarch of Belvedere Encampment 5, Past Grand Chaplain of Grand Lodge of the Atlantic Provinces IOOF (1990-1991) and a member of the Leila Rebekah Lodge 59. He served overseas in the Second World War from 1939-1945 with the West Nova Scotia Regiment. After the war, he was employed by the federal government as an engineer on many ships. His last position before retirement was chief engineer of CANV Bluethroat.
