Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Walter and Mabel (Briffett) Janes. He served in the Militia before serving six years overseas during 1939- 1945 in the 22nd Field Ambulance Medical Corps. He was superintendent at Teleglobe Canada for 33 years, a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church; Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 44, Chester, and IOOF, MU 7714. He retired to Blandford in 1974. Surviving are his wife, the former Coral Alice Gates; sons, Douglas and wife Karen, Vancouver; Warren, Baddeck; Rodney and wife Deborah, Ottawa; daughter, Margot Kaufman, Bedford; sister, Gwen Brackett, Dunedin, Fla.; brother, Albert, St. John's, Nfld.; seven grandchildren. Marjorie was born in Chester, on August 19, 1910, to proud parents, Howard Garfield Jollymore and Marie (Keans) Jollymore (both deceased). Marjorie spent her early years in Bridgewater before her family moved to Dartmouth in the early 1930s. Marjorie married Ross Munro Herman (deceased October 24, 1963) on January 23, 1936, at Christ Church, Dartmouth. Marjorie and Ross had two children, Virginia Susan Herman (deceased April 28, 1995) and Douglas Ross Herman, Brossard, Que. Marjorie was also predeceased by her brothers, Gilbert and Ralph Jollymore and her sister, Mrs. Doris Campbell. She is survived by her loving son, Douglas (Linda) and her dear sister, Mrs. Phyllis Taylor (Bruce), Nepean, Ont. Marjorie will also be missed by her many nephews, nieces and numerous friends. Known to her many friends as Nanny, she is survived by her 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of Wesley United Church, Petite Riviere and the church choir for 50 years holding numerous offices. He was a chartered member of the Petite Riviere Fire Department serving as secretary-treasurer for 18 years. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, Bridgewater and a former member of the IOOF Lodge in Petite Riviere. Born in New Ross, Anne was a daughter of the late Edmund Boylan and Mary Murphy. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren (1997); sisters, Olive, Evelyn, Frances, Pauline; brothers, Carroll and Arnold. Anne will be sadly missed by her brother, Bill and wife Veronica, Truro; as well as her many loving nieces and nephews. Anne graduated from Normal College in 1925 and taught in Nova Scotia, Alberta and Ontario. Several years were spent during the war in RCAF (WD), Ottawa. Later, she held a supervisory position with Ontario Hydro at Rolphton, following which she resumed her teaching career in the Hamilton area. A longtime resident of Stoney Creek, Ont., Anne was actively involved in many organizations. She was a 25 year member of St. Peter’s Hospital Auxiliary and belonged to St. Francis Xavier CWL. She spent 13 years as trustee of Stoney Creek Library, six years as tour guide at Hamilton Public Library and many years working as a volunteer on the Retired Teachers Newsletter Committee. A funeral mass was held in St. Francis Xavier Church, Stoney Creek, on Monday, January 11. At. Anne’s request, cremation followed. He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a member of Trinity United Church, Mahone Bay, where he had been a choir member and served on the committee of stewards. Prior to his retirement, he was the third generation owner and operator of Lohnes Market, Mahone Bay. He was a former councillor and mayor for the Town of Mahone Bay. Over the years he had served as chairman or president of numerous committees and organizations including the Mahone Bay School Board; Mahone Bay Board of Trade; Park Cemetery Commission; Jubilee Park, Mahone Bay. Other activities and involvement's included the position of Scout master in Mahone Bay and a supporter of little league baseball. In 1993 he was honoured by the Mahone Bay Business Association for his contributions to town development and beautification. He was a member of Charity Lodge 69, AF&AM, Mahone Bay.
