He was employed as a dental supply technician until retirement. Prior to illness, Lloyd was an avid woodsman, hunter and angler. He had great respect and love for both people and animals. He will be remembered by many for his endless generosity and patience, which was extended to young and old at his woodland retreat on the Stewiacke River. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Harry and Annie (Penny) Whynot. He worked for CN Rail for 37 years and was the local chairman for the Bridgewater Brotherhood of Firemen and Engineers with CN Rail. He was an honorary member of the Bridgewater Fire Department and Fireman's Band. He was also a member of the senior choir at Holy Trinity Anglican Church and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, Bridgewater. He was an avid old time fiddler; one of the founding members of the Lunenburg County Fiddlers' Association; and a member of the Old Time Fiddlers' Association. She was a lifelong member of St. Eulalie Rebekah Lodge 27, Kentville, and of St. James’ Anglican Church. Her warmth, kindness and fierce sense of independence will be missed by friends and family, especially by her three sisters, Mida Fredericks, Berwick; Alvida Hiltz, Kentville; Alice and husband Vere Brydon, Halifax, by her adoring children, Earl Margeson Hiltz, The Forties; Mary Somers and partner Albert Lee, Halifax; and daughter/niece, Valerie Fraser, Halifax; by her grandchildren, Brenda Keddy and husband Darell, Whitecourt, Alta.; Gordon Nathan Hiltz and Teresa Workman, The Forties; great-grandchildren, Lyle Keddy and Ellen Hiltz. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward (Teddy) Somers; two brothers and four sisters. No visitation by request. Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. James’ Anglican Church, Kentville, Rev. John Scott officiating. Burial will be in The Garden of Rest Cemetery, St. James’ Parish. She surrounded herself with flowers during her life and wanted none in death. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James’ Anglican Church, Kentville. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville.
