He was formerly employed as a truck driver with Mahars Transport and he was a former coach of Astro's Baseball Team, Terence Bay. And played with the Terence Bay Thunderbirds. Saturday, August 26, 2000 The Halifax Herald Limited PATRIQUIN, Austin Charles PATRIQUIN, Austin Charles - 83, passed away August 25, 2000, in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital. Born in Cape John, Pictou Co., March 18, 1917, he was the son of the late George and Annie (Heighton) Patriquin. He was a farmer all his life and managed the Community Pastures, Cape John for over 25 years. he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 108. he enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening, animals and going for drives. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 47 years, the former Norma Shawand; son, Wayne (Donna); daughter, Jo-Ann Cullen (Bobby), Barb (Gene) Cowling, all of River John; Sharleen (Reg) Grant, Antigonish; stepchildren, Gerald (Marlene) Shaw, River John; Brenda (Harvey) Taylor, Berwick. Also survived by nine grandchildren, Shannon, Virgina, Michelle, Danielle, Erin, Charles, Kyle, Jonathan and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Cailey. As well as, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Lloyd and sisters, Lucy and Ada and son-in-law, Douglas Cullen. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the River John Fire Department. His remains are resting at MacLeod's Funeral Home, River John. Sunday, August 27, 2000 The Halifax Herald Limited ISNOR, Murray Gordon ISNOR, Murray Gordon - 94, Litchfield Crescent, Halifax, passed away August 25, 2000, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Frederick and Katie (Longard) Isnor. Previous to his retirement he had been employed for 50 years at the Halifax waterfront as a checker, stowage man and dock superintendent. He was a member of the checker's union and also a member of the Atlantic Masonic Lodge No. 103. He is survived by son, Errol (Maureen), Halifax; sisters, Violet Marryatt, Halifax; Marjorie Hild, Five Island Lake; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Vera Byrnes; sister, Dorothy Ward; brother, Borden. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Monday and the Atlantic Masonic Lodge No. 103 will conduct a Masonic service at 7 p.m., funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday, all in J. Born July 16, 1909, in Hall's Harbour, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Dennis and Tressa Houghton. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a member of the West Hall's Harbour United Baptist Church. He lived the greater part of his life in Hall's Harbour where he was a fisherman and had been the lighthouse keeper for 17 1/2 years. He had carried on the family tradition of weir fishing for many years. The Harbour was very dear to Jim. He was always interested in the Harbour and its activities. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruby Irene Zwicker; daughters, Edith (Jack) Dunn, Castlegar, B.C.; Janet (Robert "Gus") Meister, Kentville; sons, James (Marjorie), Kentville; Albert (Roberta), Kentville; Fred (Sylvia), Hall's Harbour; David (Sandra), Kentville; foster son, David (Sharon) Brewster, Cambridge; daughters-in-law, Joyce Mosher, Hall's Harbour; Julia Foster, Kentville; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He received his education in New Ross and then continued on at Kingtec Community College, Kentville where he graduated as a machinist. At the time of his death he was employed for 13 1/2 years as a machinist with G.N. Plastics, Chester. He was an adherent of the Baptist Church. He took an active part in sports especially basketball. Surviving are his wife, the former, Sharon Evans; son, Kendall; brothers, Jeffrey, Chester Basin; Terry, New Ross; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
