Manitoba GenWeb Project

Information for Potential Volunteers
We need help in the following areas:
  • Researchers - Volunteers are needed to help find information to add to the Manitoba GenWeb. Information such as:
    • How to contact genealogy societies and relevant government agencies,
    • Books relating to Manitoba genealogy, history or families
    • Cemeteries
    • Census Records
    • Church Records
    • Land Records
    • Vital Statistics
    • Newspapers
    • Ethnic Groups
    • Prominent People & Families
    • Native History
    • Religious Groups History
    • Manitoba History

This is only as time consuming as you wish it to be, and much can be done while you are doing your own research.

  • Manitoba Region Hosts
    • Map of the municipality (optional)
    • History of the municipality (optional, but a nice addition)
    • Names of the towns and cities in the municipality (optional, but a nice addition)
    • Postal addresses and Internet links to:
      - Genealogical and Historical societies
      - municipal offices, and addresses for vital records
      - Other links of interest to people researching in that area
    • A Queries page
    • A lookups section for pertinent genealogical resources
    • GenWeb Logos - Both the CanadaGenWeb Project logo, and the Provincial GenWeb Project logo, should be prominently displayed.
      Canada GenWeb Manitoba GenWeb
    • A link to your Provincial GenWeb Page on the main page, and preferably, links to other Region GenWeb sites as well

Links to the USGenWeb Project and the WorldGenWeb Project sites may also be added to your pages.

Please note: these are the minimum requirements. Additional pertinent information may be placed on your page at your discretion.

Most importantly, have Fun! Feel free to use your own imagination and creativity to make your Canada GenWeb Project site your unique creation. The Manitoba Project is like an old-fashioned community quilt. Each volunteer gets to design his or her square however they like, so long as they can all be fit together. We meet at the master page to sew our squares together, and presto, we've got us a quilt.

If you would like to volunteer and/or have questions, please send an e-mail to Phyllis Haynen, Manitoba GenWeb Project Coordinator.

Note: RootsWeb provides webspace for GenWeb sites, as well as Query Boards, Counters, etc.
