Two things that struck me most when visiting, were the shear 'ANTIQUITY' of the enclosure and the 'SANCTITY' of this hallowed ground. We felt that we were treading on the living quarters and worshiping area of our forefathers.
The Claffey Church is in the foreground. It appears as an extension to the Church in front (Doulin) but is actually a separate church. The Claffey Church is quite small measuring only 22 ft. in length by 12 ft. in width. It has only one round headed door about 5 ft tall, opening to the south. One has to stoop to enter. There is one window about 4 feet above gound facing eastward. Once inside, Claffey gravestones are seen.
