Private James Claffey fought in the Civil War for the Confederates in Captain Winston's Company of the Tennessee Light Artillery.

In 1910 William Claffey was a resident of Mountain Home, the U.S. National Soldiers Home for Disabled Veterans in Washington Co., TN  He was born in 1845 in Massachusetts, as were his mother and father.  He was never married.  See #32 on Civil War Page.  He died 15 Jan 1911 and is buried in Plot G59.

William L. Claffey born 1878 was a Private in Co. D, 1st Illinois Cavalry.  He was buried  14 Mar 1947, (age 69) in the Memphis National Cemetery in Shelby Co., TN in Plot 4202.

First Lieutenant Harold Claffey was inducted from TN and served in the 130th Infantry, 33rd Division.  He died 02 Sep 1943 and is buried in Honolulu, Hawaii.
