NOTES:

01-John James Claffy was a native of Cenresport, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. I have been unable to locate Cenresport. He was born around 1850 and was in USA by 1872. He died at Cook Co. Hospital in Chicago 11 Jan 1904 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery. John James Claffy bought the cemetery plot 5 Feb 1872 when he was in his early twenties, apparently for the burial of a John Hanlon (relationship unknown) who died 5 Feb 1872 at age 27. Also buried in the plot is Jane Claffey 1 yr buried 9 Jul 1893, and Baby Claffey (Agnes J.) 2 days buried 6 Apr 1905 and George A. Ballinger 3 mo buried 20 Mar 1909.

02-Mary Jane Fox Claffy (Jennie) was in USA by 1883. We believe she died 18 Apr 1912.

03-John James Claffy, Jr. and Agnes Robertson Claffy separated but never divorced. They were Irish Catholic. His WWI draft card lists his address as 5320 Emerald Ave, medium height and build, blue eyes, light hair, occupation box nailer married to Agnes Claffy. He died in the Veteran’s Hospital and was buried Jun 1954 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

04-Agnes Robertson Claffy was married at age 17 which would have been around 1904. On the 1930 census she was living with her daughter Jenny Mahoney and family. Also living there was Gertrude Claffey age 23, married, and her son John age 1. Was Gertrude the wife of Agnes’ son John J. Claffy, 3rd ? Agnes lived in Monee, Will Co., Illinois at the time of her death in 1978.

05-Agnes Jane Claffy-died at 2 days old

06-Mary Jane Claffy (Jenny) Mahoney at age 18 was married to John Mahoney who worked for the Wabash Railroad and they had two children: Marion & Robert. She later married a Mr. Lopes.

07-John Claffy, 3rd was born and died in Chicago.

08-Bernard L. Claffy married Florence Maniszewski. He was buried 07 Oct 1968 at Ressurection Cemetery following funeral mass at St. John of God. His children are: Joan Claffy m. John Tiggelaar, Edward Claffy m. Patricia, Donald Claffy m. Norma, Roy Claffy m. Rosalee, Allan Schoiber m. Joyce.

09-George R. Claffy was born and died in Chicago. He was a POW in WWII. He married Anna Leahy. Their children are: George R. Claffy, Jr., William Claffy, Lawrence Claffy, Daniel Claffy, James Claffy, Veronica Claffy, Sheila Claffy.

10-Catherine A. (Kitty) Claffy died about 12 Jul 1976 in Chicago and is buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery following funeral mass at St. Rita. Between 1910-1920 she married George A. Ballinger (Bollinger) who was a gas fitter for the gas company.

11-Lawrence Luke Claffy died 11 Jul 1984 in Chicago and is buried at All Saints Cemetery. He was married to Barbara Neifing. On 5 Jun 1917 he registered for WWI draft as single, short, medium build, blue eyes, light brown hair, date of birth 1889. Various documents show various years of birth. His children were Virginia Claffy Goslee, Angela Claffy Wright, and Raymond Claffy.

12-Jane Claffy-She was buried 09 Jul 1893 in Calvary Cemetery in Chicago.

A John Claffy born Ireland moved to Cook Co., Illinois in 1871 and applied for citizenship in 1882 in Cook Co. Circuit Court.

NOTES:
01-Thomas Claffy was born in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, Ireland. He arrived in USA @ 1833. He lived near Joliet @ 1837.Thomas and his son Charles (03) worked a farm in Lemont (Cook Co.) Illinois from around 1850. Around 1892 Charles (03) and his son Thomas (05) seem to have left the farm and moved to 5922 Emerald Ave. in Chicago.

02-Winnie Ford was born in parish Cluenfush, Tuam, Co. Galway, Ireland. Think they were married at Lockport. Her brother was Roger Ford and her sister was Bridget Ford who married Michael unknown.

03-Charles Claffy was born midway between Sag and Lemont.

04-Annie Gannon Claffey was born in Buffalo, NY. She was the daughter of Michael Gannon of Cloondain Parish of St. Mary’s, Co. Westmeath, Ireland and his wife Mary Kelly from the Parish of Cloutaskent, near Tuam, Co. Galway.
05-Thomas J. Claffey-Bridge Contractor, lived on Longwood Dr, Chicago
06-Emily G. Claffey came to USA 18801-John M. Claffey worked in Post Office, d 26 Mar 1965 Chicago, buried St. James Sag Bridge Catholic Cemetery, Lemont, IL, lived at 10622 Talman Ave, Chicago in 1965.
12-Public School teacher

13-An Edward B. Claffey, an electrician with the telephone co. married
Anna b. @1889. Think this is the (13) above.
15-single

There is an Anne W. Claffy b. 1882, d. 1886 and an Annie Claffy b. 1842, d. 1937 which are associated with this family, but I don't know where they fit in.
