Ira Heald
Retired engineer
MARIPOSA - Ira Henry Heald, who worked for 25 years as a building inspector for
the Los Angeles County Engineering Department, died Saturday in a Modesto
hospital He was 74.
Mr. Heald was born in What-Cheer, Iowa. He served as a lieutenant in the Army
Air Force from 1943 to 1945.
He was a B-25 instructor. Mr. Heald lived in Mariposa for 19 years.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel E. (Fischer) Heald of Mariposa; a son,
William C. Catlin of Garden Grove; two sisters, Mary Hawkins and Verna Cope,
both of Ohio; five grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mariposa Funeral Home, 9th
and Bullion Streets, Mariposa.
