NONA BASSETT, 78
Dietary aide
Nona Irene Bassett, a dietary aide, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital. She was 78.
Mrs. Bassett was born Sept. 20, 1915, in Oregon. She was a member of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Merced, 1st Ward, and a member of the
Merced Genealogical Society. she worked at Mercy Hospital for 20 years as a
dietary aide.
Mrs. Bassett is survived by two daughters, Sherry Bassett Howell of Sacramento
and Deanne Bassett McKee of Merced; three sons, Leland Martin of Los Angeles,
Eugene Martin of the Central Valley and Kenneth Martin of Sacramento; a sister,
Rita Moore of Merced; two brothers, Elvin Zuiderduin of Merced and Gerrett
Zuiderduin of Modesto; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit Monday from noon to 7 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral
Chapel. Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Curtis Castleton will lead the services. Burial
will be in Merced District Cemetery.
