Lucretia Schnelker
December 25, 1928 ~ April 18, 2004
Lucretia Ruth Schnelker lost a long, courageous battle against cancer on April
18, 2004 at age 75. Lucretia was born December 25, 1928 to Bert Young and Mary
Ruth Geoghegan Young in Merced, California. A brother, Matthew Burton Young,
preceded her in death.
Lucretia attended Fresno State College and graduated from Armstrong Business
College in Berkeley, California. She then found employment at Shell Development
Company in Emeryville, California. When that facility closed she transferred to
the Shell Refinery in Martinez, California, retiring from there in 1989.
Lucretia and Robert Wey Schnelker were married November 11, 1961 in Carmel,
California. He survives. There were no children. Other survivors included a
niece, Michelle Andrews (Audie) of Lodi, California, a nephew, Richard Young (Margy)
of Stockton, California and a cousin, Patricia Collins (James) of Las Cruces,
New Mexico. Lucretia will be remembered as an excellent cook who also had
well-developed computer skills. She had an avid interest in genealogy which tied
in with her love of family history. She loved to travel and was never happier
that when she was roaming the western states visiting historic sites in the
family recreational vehicle. Robert and Lucretia moved from their home in
California and took up residence in Grand Junction in the year 2000.
Lucretia wishes to acknowledge the fine care she received from Dr. Donna McFadden and her wonderful staff in Pod 3 of St. Mary's Cancer Center. Interment has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 60307, Grand Junction, Colorado 81506.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary.
