Barbara Dolores Jones was the first-born child of Clyde Lennox and Maggie Myrtle Jones. She grew up on the Miller Hotchkiss Eastside Ranch near Firebaugh, California. She attended grammar and high school in nearby Dos Palos. Barbara met the love of her life, George Bailey Hale, while in high school. They were married in Reno, Nevada on October 29, 1949. Barbara and George moved to Merced in 1956. George was a long-time service manager at McAuley Motors and Barbara worked for the Merced Sun Star as a reporter and editor, Barbara loved her family.

 
 She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter, Deborah Joan. She is survived by her son Steven Richard, and her daughters Susan Denise Weston (Robert) and Jennifer Celeste McConnell (Doug). She is also survived by her younger brothers Robert Lee (Pamela), Clyde Junior (Dorothy) and James Marlon. Barbara leaves behind her grandchildren Zachary Rand Robertson (Julia), Heidi Celeste Robertson, Nicole Marie Weston, Zachary Charles Weston, Kirsten Michelle Weston, Gabrielle Celeste Franke, Michaela Alexandra Weston, Madeline Celeste Franke, and her two great grandchildren Zoe Rand Robertson and Quinn Alexandra Robertson. Many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws are not noted here.


 Barbara enjoyed work, travel and researching family history. She was an extremely kind and considerate woman who will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Barbara will be buried next to her husband, daughter and parents at the Plainsburg Cemetery in Merced, California, after a private family gathering at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Merced County Historical Society, Merced County Courthouse, 21st and N Streets in Merced (95340).
