 Adamiro J. Sacchetti

Adamiro (Adam) Joseph Sacchetti lost his brave 4-month battle to Mesothelioma, an asbestos-related lung cancer, on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the age of 84.

Adam is survived by his deeply loved wife of 60 years, Mary. He was an amazing father to his children Steven Sacchetti and wife Mary-Carmen, and Joni Imberi and husband Mickey.

Adam loved and adored his grandchildren, Kristi Olivares and husband Abe, Jenny and Melissa Imberi, Bianca and Stefani Sacchetti, and only great-grandchild Abraham D. Olivares. He is also survived by his loving sister, Pierina Hamilton and husband, Ray and loving nieces and nephew, Kim Goodman, Lynn and Danny Hamilton, and Shelly Comer-Henly.

Adam was born on April 28, 1923 in Massarosa, Italy to Pietro and Maria Sacchetti. At the age of 12, he sailed to the United States with his mother and younger sister, Pierina, to reunite with his father in Dos Palos, CA. Adam graduated from Dos Palos High School, proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.

Adam married Mary Etta Brown on September 7, 1947. He was the love of her life. They had two children, Steven and Joni. He owned S & S Automotive business for sixteen years with his partner and dear friend, Tab Soto. After retiring, Adam and his wife moved to Seattle, WA for ten years and returned to Merced in 1997 to be closer to his family. Adam and Mary celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year on September 7 with a small family gathering.

At the age of 80, Adam returned to his birthplace in Italy with his son. This was Adam's first trip to Italy since he immigrated to the United States in 1935. During the trip he reunited with his childhood friend, Carlino.
His family will miss his loving smile, gentle spirit, and strength. He was always very generous with his time and was always available to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He loved life, everyone and everything in it. Adam maintained a vibrant and active lifestyle, staying busy with antiques, square dancing, a rental business, the SPCA, the genealogy society, the Italian Catholic Federation Society, the Catholic Church, and his dear friends and family, until the day he fell ill. There are no words to express how special he was and how saddened we are to lose him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary service held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Merced on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow with honors on the same day at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest during a private family burial at Los Banos Cemetery next to his mother, father, and grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests your prayers. Arrangements are entrusted with Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home.
