His will, dated Feb. 21 1483, in which he calls himself Harry Sayvell, one of the yeomen of the chambre of the king. [here abbreviated, much spelling modernised]

Soul to Almighty God [etc]. Body to be buried in the church of White Freres in Fletestrete in the suberbez of London if it fortone me in London decesse. I bequeath to the Prior and Convent of the White Freres in Fletestrete for my exequies, Masse of Requiem and for a trentall of Masses there to be song or said for my soul, [etc] vjs viijd. For breaking of the ground in the same church and making of my grave there before our blessed Lady vjs viijd. I bequeath xs to church works of Sendale, and among poor people in the same parish. In like wise to the church works of Thornehill and poor inhabitants there most needy other xs. To the church works of Eland and the poor inhabitants there most needy, other xs. I bequeath to Thomas Sayvell, esquire, xls. I bequeath to Jane Eland to her marriage xls. I bequeath to Elizabeth Eland to her marriage xxs. I bequeath to every household servant dwelling with myn olde Lady Sayvell xxd. I bequeath to the reparacon of Eland brige [bridge] vjs viijd and to the reparacion of Cowfordbrigge vjs viijd and to the reparacon of the new brigge called Mirfeld brige vjs viijd. I bequeath to Robert Agland to pray for my soul a cowe orels viijs in money. I will that myn exequyes, that is to say, Dirige and Masse of Requiem, be done for my soul in convenient time after my decease in the parish churches of Sendale and Thornehill and also in the chapell of Eland, [etc] I pardon and remit and also clearly release and quit claim [etc] to [blank] Nowell of Heton and to John Diconson of Heton, to the said Nowell all the debts owed to me [etc] and to the said John Diconson half the debt that he oweth me. I will that my said executors shall end with John Kynnesley for all such lands as I bought from him [etc] he to chose whether he will have his land again or not, and he will have it again to pay such money as he hath received, at his ease as they and he may agree. I will that my executors deal with John Holme in like wise. The residue of all my goods after my exequies done, my debts truly paid and this my testament fulfilled, I wholly give and bequeath to Elizabeth Waterton widow and to my brother Thomas Sayvell to dispose of me by their best discretion [etc]. I make the said Elizabeth Waterton and Thomas my brother my executors [if Elizabeth agrees] or if Elizabeth happen to marry that then she shall take have nor enjoy any benefit of any legate of my goods to [her] herein given or assigned [etc] then I will and ordain the said Thomas Sayvell my brother and Thomas Blakker my brother in law solely executors of this my said testament [etc] As to the disposition of all my lands and tenements within the county of York all that now be enfeoffed to my use at such time as they reasonably be required by my executors [etc] then the profits coming from the lands and tenements I will that my said executors and feoffes shall departe by their discretions one part to my brother William, to my sister Agnes, and to John Diconson, my servant yearly. I will that [etc] a house, croft and gardens in Wakefield, late Mason, y'of make [etc] to my said brother Thomas Sayvell and to his heirs and assigns for ever. I will that the same Thomas my brother also have to him and his heirs for ever all the lands and tenements which he and I have jointly purchased in Sendale or in any other place. And the reversion of all the said lands and tenements both free land and copy hold such as before I have not named to my said brother Thomas and to his heirs and assigns after the decease of my said executors I will shall remain by the discretion of my said feoffees and executors unto my Bern and Bern childre and to their heirs and assigns for ever except lands and tenements to the yearly value of xls [which goes for the singing for his soul and for the soul of his brother Thomas etc] Witnesses: Thomas Sayvell, esquire, Thomas Broune, scryvener, of London, writer of thiez presentes, Willm Ermitage, citezeine and upholder of London, Willm. Wakefield Manor Court Rolls:


1483, Mar 18. Henry Sayvell, son of Thomas Sayvell of Holyngegge, by Thomas Blacker surrendered all his messuages, lands, meadows and pastures with their appurtenances within the lordship of Wakefield viz three parts of one messuage newly built, 19 acres 3 roods of land and one messuage, 12 acres of land in Horbury; and a close called Wharell roide also called Halyfaxe roide, in Sandall, late John Kynneslay's; and three parts of two messuages and 60 acres of land in Hyperome, Rastryk and Holme; two messuages one toft three bovates, six acres of land in Erlesheton and one rood of land in Mappellwellroide in Ossett, late Thomas Baledon's and Agnes' his wife's; to the use of Elizabeth Waterton, late wife of Robert Waterton, armiger, and Thomas Sayvell, brother of the said Henry and their heirs for ever for the performance of the last will of him, Henry, by the same Elizabeth and Thomas Sayvell, by the supervision of the aforesaid Thomas Blacker
