He was in the worsted trade / a carpet warehouseman.

He succeeded John Simpson as Halifax town crier [1891]. He was originally the bell-man at Northowram, he held the post of Halifax town crier until he retired [30th September 1908]. His last announcement was the formation of the Independent Labour Party.

For many years, he was the organ-blower at Heywood's Chapel, Northowram.

He married Unknown [18??-1928].

They lived at

  • 18 Oxford Street, Halifax [1905]

He and his wife lived at Arden Road Almshouses.

destroyed himself while labouring under temporary insanity
