About Us

In 1977, the AVGS first published its quarterly newsletter, "Prospector." It contains articles of interest for the Antelope Valley local and non-resident researcher, original records transcribed from local newspapers, census records, and cemetery records, along with interesting genealogical information, advice and queries. Members of AVGS receive a copy of the Prospector each quarter, along with a monthly newsletter update by email.

The Society is a tax exempt, non-profit corporation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations of books, money, or supplies qualify as charitable contributions to the extent allowed by law.

Meetings and Programs

Our regular meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month. We offer a series of Saturday classes and workshops at our research center. Every year in early fall we hold a day-long seminar called KinDig, which features lectures, workshops, classes, and vendors selling books and items of interest to both novice and advanced family researchers. Please see our web site's Calendar Page for more informaiton.
